It was. I just know that is why she finally was written this way.
Joss wanted to twist the knife.  It's just she didn't have much a role other than being Willow's girlfriend before Season 6 to me. I feel like this was the case with Anya mostly being Xander's girlfriend. It's so ironic that I found both Tara & Anya so much more likeable than Willow & Xander especially at that point. So I hate that both char. never were fleshed out enough. __________________

That would make the most sense to me. I've always felt it was a lost opportunity not to have Buffy and Giles discuss what had happened in Season 3
