STARRYEYESXX

Off topic but smg looks stunning in that purple shade.

I love how she just threw the vampires out there knowing it’d go over her mom’s head. I wonder if Joyce replays that conversation in her head after Buffy told her about being the Slayer

Yeah she was like: "What the hell mom didn`t hear that."

According to Normal Again Joyce had already, by that point, institutionalized Buffy due to her belief in vampires and the supernatural. That episode retcon makes Joyce look so stupid. :pout: If that were true, this moment in the mall would alarm Joyce.

-Alicia- 01-19-2018 07:06 AM

^^^ I didn’t even think about that. I really hate that whole episode tbh.

I agree if that had happened, and Joyce ready had institutionalized Buffy, Buffy wouldn’t have even made that remark in the mall.

I see people justify 'Buffy being institutionalized' as only happening in the "Dawn Verse." Basically, it was a memory implanted by the monks and didn't really happen. I like that explanation since it saves Joyce's characterization and doesn't make her look like an idiot in S2.

Same. It is just too canon breaking and thinks it is clever when it isn't. That "cliffhanger" that it's all fake is just straight up stupid because Joyce isn't even the biggest plot hole. Angel The Fricken Series is. Buffy making up Xander, Willow, and Dawn I can ~maybe see.~ But creating an entire spinoff life with fully realized people that she never even meets or sees for her ex-boyfriend??? LMAO. OKAY. Werk.

I read that before being only happening b/c of Dawn in the past.

That works for me.

I enjoy Buffy trying to kill the Scoobies that episode.

:goof:

At the same time Joyce could've just been denying it, too. I'm not saying that is a fact, just a thought.

I know Joyce repressed a lot--like a lot--but willfully forgetting she locked up her daughter in a mental institution? You know Buffy would've gone kicking and screaming too.

And then if Joyce did manage to forget in subconsciously somehow, Buffy wouldn't have asked Giles if she could let her mom in on her secret. She would've known that her mom was incapable of handling it mentally and would've just repressed it again. It would've been a different kind of conversation. IMO, the facts all add up to retcon.

Perhaps she refused to put Buffy back in a mental institution.
