| Just from reading the book, Shutter Island wouldn't seem like an Oscar contender based on its premise. It is not your typical Oscar-type story, really. I could see individual acting nominations, just like with Gone, Baby, Gone (written by the same author) and maybe a directing nod for Scorsese, but not necessarily a Best Picture nomination. So it will be interesting to see what does happen. I also noticed in that article that amidst all the "Oscar winner, and "Oscar nominee" titles, Michelle was mentioned as "Oscar nominee, Michelle Williams." | She definately deserve the nomination and I think this role could make it a possibility for her. The character in the story is complicated - loving and tortured. If the format of the film is anything like the novel, we see her through her husbands eyes.
