Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams split

The parents of one of our favorite celebrity children, Matilda Rose, 22 months, have split. Actors Heath Ledger, 28, and Michelle Williams, 26 have announced their separation. The couple have been engaged since Michelle became pregnant with Matilda in 2005. They met on the set of Brokeback Mountain in 2004. We don't usually post about splits but they are one of our reader's favorite celebrity parents and couples. While they are no longer together they are committed to raising their daughter.

They have a beautiful daughter and they are both committed to being great parents.

Heath is currently filming Dark Knight in LA, and Matilda is with Michelle while she films Synecdoche in NYC.

Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams have split, Us Weekly can confirm.

A source close to the couple tells Us that Heath and Michelle "quietly and amicably split a few weeks ago."

"The relationship had been rocky recently. They tried very hard to make it work but finally decided to separate. They just grew apart."

The couple, who live in Brooklyn, NY and have a daughter, Mathilda, 23 months, met on the set of Brokeback Mountain in 2005.

"They have a beautiful daughter and they are both committed to being great parents."

Reps for the couple could not be reached.

I won't believe this until another respectable magazine or whatever confirms the breakup. US weekly is the only one that CONFIRMS this breakup? Its a tabloid magazine. Perez hilton said the same thing about Josh and Diane and he was the only source to break the story, other blogs have just used him as a source. Josh and diane are STILL together. So unless Michelle or heath says out of their own mouths, we shouldn't let this one magazine tell us that they broke up.

Makes me sad. I love these two. And I hope they find a way back to each otehr in the future.

wow, people has also reported it, that sucks big time. I am so sad right now. I really thought they were gonna make it.

I have the same shock and sadness that i had when i heard about ryan and reese. them and michelle and heath were my 2 fav hollywood couples and i thought both couples would last , what a shame.

just wanted to add my thoughts on the reasoning they are reporting about work schedules keeping them apart all the time. First off all, that goes with being an actor. that will happen with anybody you are in a relationship with if you both are actors or even just one person, it is part of the job.

It is such a cop out!!

Secondly. I think that is a poor, poor , pathetic excuse when there is a child involved. your family comes first...if shooting movies is keeping you away from your partner or family..quit the buisness. your family should be the number one priority.

Reading that it was because of schedule conflicts just made me really mad, because of matilda

I know what you mean and your feelings right now. This is really sad thinking of little Matilda. She's too young.
But I Never think that this split comes from only schedule conflicts. Split is very complicated.
And I believe that they did what they could to make it work. I bet their priority is their daughter although they've finally separated.

What can I say?! I only wish them all the best. Wish both Heath and Michelle to be good parents.
Yes, this sucks! However, who is the person spending very hard time right now?!
I don't know what to say. This news makes me and us really sad and depressed.
I just hope that Michelle will break through this moment with her little darling.

so that's true?????? i've heard about it some weeks ago (or month) but one told be it was gossip... but one tells me to go and see people.com and obviously it seems true...

i prefer wait and see... if michelle or heath say something about that, i'll believe it, but i can't believe something i read...

sorry i can't come and see you as often i'd like to but u think of you ! (i hope you remember me? i'm the french fan of michelle)

I am really hoping it isnt true. But knowing Heath and Michelle and how private they are I highly doubt that they are gonna comment on their breakup to the public.
