Grey's Anatomy - November Sweeps
Thursday's episode of Grey's Anatomy saw Katherine's character Izzie Stevens fired from her job at Seattle Grace / Mercy West hospital and it was the last Katie shot before her hiatus from the show to film her new movie "Life As We Know It".
With production on the new movie in Atlanta scheduled into November, TV Guide Magazine reports that Katherine will only appear in one episode during the forthcoming sweeps. However, creator Shonda Rhimes is already excited about the story, which will feature veteran actor Joel Grey making a guest appearance as Izzie's old high school teacher.
"It’s a pretty amazing episode," Rhimes said, "he (Joel Grey) was the teacher who convinced Izzie (Katherine Heigl) she was more than a girl from the trailer park. And now he’s in need of her help."

Rhimes is also considering bringing back Sharon Lawrence as Izzie’s trashy mama, Robbie Stevens, who was last seen at her ailing daughter’s bedside towards the end of last season

I think Izzie will be back at her home town, that's why she will be spending
some time with her teacher and her mom, probably.

I hope they help her to regain her self esteem as a surgeon,
so when she goes back to Seattle she will be that confident girl
who stripped her clothes to show alex she is more then a beautiful body.

Yes.

I don't know if they are going to keep showing all-new episodes until the end of November (don't know how that works), but if they do:

2 more episodes left in October, 4 episodes in November. If she appears in one of them, there's 5 where she's out and woo-hoo, we're done! We may get her back before the Holiday break.
