It would be one thing if the writers just wanted Liz and Ava to seem like they were becoming friends.

i wish they had included Ava more... After Liz broke up with Max Maria wasnīt really helping her. She never understood that liz didnīt want to talk about him. i guess Ava could have helped her more that Maria ever could, because Ava know the feeling...
