NZ Embassy: Coz she has a lamp that needs trimming

I don't know if any other Kiwi's even come here, but I thought I'd open this thread just in case...

Even though I may be the only one.

Hi! Argh.... Finally, another Kiwi Emilie fan, I have been waiting for so long...

Where in NZ are you?

I'm from Wellington, but have been forced (by my hateful parents) to move!

Well at least you have quite nice weather in the waiarapa, though I feel your pain, I am a city girl, I don't think I'd like living in such a small area.

Hi!

Living here is ok... Kinda boring. I suppose to outsiders it's an awesome place to go to. Soo green, as if you couldn't tell from LoTR's

Personally I can't wait to leave here, but that's because there's really not much here in the way of anything.

Or maybe it's just where I live.

It is a pretty awesome place.

That's Wellington, where I grew up. It's a pretty cool city. These were all taken by my mates parents.

Those two photo's are on oposite sides of the road, so it looks like Legolas has missed his target, and got in the pub instead.

And that pic was taken at Reading Cinema's, just down the road from where the world premire of Return of The King was held.

I was there that day... Standing by, watching the parade go past. I was working that day, but finished my shift half an hour before the parade went past my work. We shut down the store and three of us stood nearby and watched as it went past.

Unfortunately, everytime the stars got near us, they turned their heads away to look to the other side of the street, so I didn't get any really good photos of anyone.

I went to take this one of Liv Tyler and Orlando Bloom, and just as I went to take it, they turned away. It totally sucked.

Anyways, back on topic!

I can't to see Lost, aye. I really hope it comes to New Zealand, or I'm gonna be pretty bummed out.

Where do you live, Mere??

No we don't get the same tv as Australia... Completely different from what I understand.

Yea I really hope that I get to see Lost. Even my mum's getting really interested in the show, and hoping that we get it.

I dunno... I moved out, and moved an hour away from where my parents live, and I loved it... But it will probably be different when I move over seas... I guess I'll appreciate it then

Texas? Wow, isn't that like, all desert and stuff?

nope...that would be arizona ..texas has a lot of vegetation...some parts are dryer than others the farther west you go but texas has some green...

if you ever get to visit you'll find it's one of the friendliest places to visit...on average most folks you say 'hello' to say it back with a smile and there's almost always someone holding a door open for you...

i've lived in a lot of places since i'm an army brat but i consider myself a texan by default since my dad is orignally from here and i've got the most years collected here in texas.... i just love this crazy place....no other state i know has car commericials boasting about how great a state it is...for instance the slogan for ford trucks is 'ford is the best in texas'...it'd sound mighty odd to hear a car commercial saying 'ford is the best in ohio, new jersey, rhode island, etc.' ....

Funny.

See I just always had this image of Texas as being dry... Thanks for clearing that up.

Army Brat huh? That must be hard... Moving around.

I'm not an Army brat, but I've moved a few times... I can remember 6 places I've lived in, and I moved about 4 times before I was 3... So basically in 19 (almost 20) I've moved a total of ten times, been to 5 different schools, and it totals to moving every two years... Which is not the case.

Coz I lived in one place for ten years, and then moved 3 times in a year... So yea.

I'll definately have to include Texas in my travels... I plan on getting into something in the travel and tourism industry... Preferbly Cruise Ships... But I figure that if I save up money while I'm working, I can go have a decent holiday every two years.

i'm trying to plan a trip to ireland this summer so hopefully all our work schedules can align and we'll be able to go for two weeks...i hope to visit scotland while i'm there, for some reason i've always wanted to go there....i'm a sucker for an accent...

being an army brat was fun...the moving sucked sometimes 'cause i loathe unpacking but i was able to live in some really cool places and see things i would never have been able to see otherwise...

i have a question so please excuse my gross ignorance on the subject but why are folks from new zealand called "kiwis"?....

That sounds like a lot of fun... I can't wait to see Ireland and Scotland myself... Most of my family is from there. Accents are really cool.... I love trying to imitate them. I'm heading to Aussie in two months, for a whole month, so I'll come back and get teased for being an Aussie.

Yea I love moving and travelling... and meeting new people, it's just soo much fun. I can't say I love packing and unpacking tho, coz I hate that. But going somewhere new is awesome... Another reason I'm going into travel and tourism.

We're called Kiwi's coz that's our national, native bird. Except in zoo's, you wont find the Kiwi anywhere else in the world... It's kind of like called the Aussie Koala's, or the 'Roo's... You know? It's just a nickname, and it's soo much easier to say "Kiwi" than it is to say New Zealander.

And forgive me for my ignorance, but why are army kids called "Army Brats"?? Coz I don't know what it means in your end of the world, but over here brat is not exactly a nice term, you know?
