According to this blog post by video game company Capcom, Onimusha is now planned for 2011.

Assuming that post-production takes at least a year (what with all the CGI needed), that's still light years away. How old is Takeshi Kaneshiro? We don't want the kickass fighter-hero to limp on set using his sword as a cane.

2011 is a lot of years away. I wonder if Emilie will drop out of the film.

I wouldn't put it past Hollywood to say she's too old by then.

Best case scenario: She stars in a couple of well-received movies in the meantime, and the Onimusha people high-five each other for giving her a contract back in 2007.

30 is soooooo old or 29 in Emilie's case.

please, dear God, let her star in a lot of movies by then (blockbusters and indies) It'll suck if after 10+ yrs in Hollywood she has only 3 movies.

Post Production may take a year but CGI take longer. Typically they film the voices first. Is it an animated film?

I guess there will be a lot of green-screen action and special effects. The budget was supposed to be $70 million.

wasn't it live action? They were supposed to film in China, weren't they?

70 mil sounds like nothing these days.

Is it live action? Or filmed entirely on a green screen?

I read they were going to China. Why spend all the money to do to China if you can use a studio in Cali for green screen work?

I think it's better to do it in China, makes it feel more real to me. I am sure she will make movies in the meantime.

I assume they film the normal stuff on location - which will probably be gorgeous, and the fighting and the enemies will be CGI-enhanced later on like they did for The Mummy.

But yeah, other Emilie movies will most likely come first.

I'm optimistic. Without having to fly to Hawaii every week to say two words or stand in the background, there are bigger time windows to do other things and thus more projects to choose from.

I wonder what's going on with Ball Don't Lie. I understand that not every indie can get a theatrical release... but what about a dvd? Maybe Nick Cannon could ask his new wife for a little financing help?
