Thanks for letting us spec here, thanks for the thread.

Roxy, exactly what I do think is that Claire is left with the kidnapper. I do not think she dies. I think this Ethan is the kidnapper and he just knocks out Chahlie or something and takes Claire.

If you think about it, this is perfect for the "creative bookkeeping", thus my whole worry that Claire's captivity, however long it lasts, will be offscreen. Gives them the perfect op not to use her, but not have to kill her. Which is really sort of wormy, obvious, and cheap if you asked me (unfortunately, ABC did not ask me.) Plus all the Chahlie angst/drama; he is sure to feel like a rat's ass for moving her off the beach in the first place.

Worse case scenerio, as someone points out, is that she disappears until maybe May sweeps. Also that she has the baby, offscreen, during her invisable captivity. Also that the others quit looking for her and forget her after the second commercial.

I think two things to watch are (UUGGHH) Her Hugeness big reveal re EdR's satus on E! Monday, and also the number of eps William Mapother, the Ethan actor are in. If he's the kidnapper, it would be logical to think if he is on, Claire will be on. Right now he is slated for 3, Solitary, RbyA, and Cowboys. This will be an important clue.

Who knew invisable peanut butter could turn so suddenly and decisively tragic!

Yeah, love the speculation thread idea Mere, great stuff. I hope that the whole thing is JUST creative bookkeeping, I'm so into Claire and Charlie isn't not funny!

backstreets, that's exactly what the writers were thinking probably. I mean, they can tell from The Fuselage comments about Claire that she's very well liked (and why not) so to have Ethan kidnap her but only let Charlie go would be great for the story. I hope it is that though.

It'd definitely be a real bummer if Claire just went poof due to this Ethan dude. And I think if it does happen, then Ethan will be so hated cuz there are some serious CC shippers out there. They'll be disappointed. And we all knows what happens when a ship doesn't get their way...

As much as I don't want to watch an Emilie-free Lost... I think it's a great idea to have her disappear for the few episodes that she doesn't have a contract for and bring her back later. Shiny guest star or semi-regular - I don't care. I know I should be worried... but somehow I'm not. I'm a huge fan of Angel's Darla for example and in my opinion this character had the best overall arc of all characers in the Whedonverse so far - and all that on a guest star status.

Maybe it's also their way of getting rid of the baby without killing it. They have her kidnapped now by some psycho who thinks her baby has a connection to the island and when she returns later she won't be pregnant and then Charlie can continue to angst over what the hell happened to the little one.

I think there was a second gun man on the grassy knoll.....my spec on the claire character....me thinks that the baby was the important part of that character, but when I look around at various forums, I see the thread for the character itself, and shipping threads for her are quite popular...in the canadian tv guide in an article about lost, they called edr a break out star, another plus for the character being kept around...then there really is only what, 4 main women right now on the show, correct? with that number compared to the men, less chance of them getting rid of a woman right away.. plus i think back to the OC last year,,the Bilson character was not a cast regular at the start, but by season end was, and in the opening credits...EDR seems to be having the same run, another reason to keep the character around for awhile....still comes down to what they created for her background story though, doesn't it...so far all the flashbacks have shown to be heavy "baggage" ones..be kinda nice to have one that is not as so bleak, but the trend seems not to be that way.

Dobson watching The OC? I can't stop smiling at the thought.

I'm with Mone's line of thinking. I should be worried but I'm not. For all the reason stated in the two posts above.

This is a great scenario. I hate it when Desperate Housewives acts like their baby doesn't exist. At least this would be a reason for the Lost baby to not be on screen.

I'm a big ol EDR fan and I love Claire, she's my fav character on LOST. I hope that she makes it through this whole mess. I would hate to see EDR leave the show. She's one of the only up-beat happy people, we need that to keep an emotional balance - or it'll end up being something like the 6th season of Buffy... nothing but depression and darkness.

I was thinking the same thing. Did I see Dobson mention the OC?

I started watching it as I captured it for our friends down under...and I watch for the "adult" storylines
Well, should be interesting to see Claire's background..so far all the ones we have seen show the characters as already being "lost", before they even get to the island..and I like Rebel'n'Spuffy's comment about how the character of Claire has been upbeat so far..it is a nice counterpoint to the other situations....but with her being pregnant, me thinks that is not what they have planed for Claire at first

POSSIBLE SPOILER

OK, the E!TeaseTurkey was basically useless last night in that online thingie, espec in regards to the status of Herself, Ms EdR. Why did I ever fall for her teasing crap that she would spill vital info? Everything she said about the upcoming Claire trauma all us spoiler pigs have known for days.

However, she did leak one little tidbit that could be very interesting and encouraging for us. Later in the transcript, she was asked what happened to Rose, the lady in the early ep with the missing hubby. She said Rose would reappear, and "would help coax a character we all love out of a post-traumatic haze."

Remember the exec on the Fuselage saying someone comes forward to help Claire with her pregnancy? Could this be!!! This seems like the most hopeful news I have seen since the dreaded promo pics for cowboy came out.

I now think there is a 50/50 chance that the Claire abduction is used as a cliffhanger for Cowboys, which may be the last ep for a few weeks during a holiday hiatus. But then afterwards, she is found fairly quickly, and don't you just know poor girl is gonna be all hazy and traumatized?

This is best case scenerio beyond anything we could have imagined. Not only herself getting a Sweeps ep, but being the focus of a mini-cliffhanger! 20 million viewers worrying for her character over the Christmas Holidays. It's a long way from Roswell to the island baby!

Course before we go popping the corks, we must also consider that possibility that the person Rose coaxes out of the pt haze could be Chahlie, in which case it is back to the sandy shores of depression and disappeared Claire for us. . . .

They have adult storylines? I thought it was another 90210.

I'm interested in Claire's background and considering she's pregnant and all that, should be interesting. Compare to say, like Hurley who I have no idea HOW they are going to make interesting since he hasn't really done anything but help people and play matchmaker with Jack and Kate.

I'm leaning towards this one...but hey on the official site she is listed, she is working, that's what makes me happy for EdR, so if we do not see Claire for awhile, the positives outweigh the negatives of that..

sigh and I'm even being mocked by the mods of the board...thus is the world today

Yeah, I would think it would be Chahlie Rose is coaxing as well, except for that pesky spoiler I'm hanging on to about someone stepping forward for Claire. Especialy since that came straight fm one of the execs at the fuselage site. And he did say it would be a character who had been in the background. Gotta be either Ethan, the 'napper, or Rose.

And it just makes so much sense. It's easier to see Rose consulting on a pregnancy than relating to an ex-junkie ex rock god.

But maybe I am just grasping at straws . . .
