I don't know which to choose over the other. It's hard, since I love all 5 seasons of Angel, despite the fact that there were some crappy storylines in the mix. But BTVS' 1st three seasons hold a special place in my heart for sure.

That's exactly how I feel as well. I could survive with only S1-3 of BTVS because what came after was okay. There were memorable episodes S4-7 (OMWF, Him, Tabula Rasa, Something Blue, The Yoko Factor, Forever, The Body, Lessons) but they lacked the magic of BTVS S1-3. The characters became sad, whiny, bitchy and depressing. As did the storylines.

I'm not an ATS S1 fan but S2, 4 and 5 rocked. And even S3 was better then S5 and 7 of BTVS. I must admit that even though the spuffy was puke-worthy, I actually liked S6 of BTVS because of how dark it was. I found that at least there was a story there. That lacked in S5 and for most of S4 for me. Plus it's mood reminded me of ATS a lot. It just wasn't as good...

I would have loved it if Cordy and Buffy became friends.

Oo, great question!

Well I would definitely without a doubt change the Spuffy and Cangel storylines. (season 6 of Spuffy, and the forced 'romance' with Cangel in season 3) But I'd have to think of something that I'd want to replace it.

I'd change nothing in s1.... except maybe add more B/A scenes

s2.... i wouldn't have angel go to hell

if i had to Phillip S. Inferno is a good replacement where Buffy goes to hell with angel... awesome

s3 - angel wouldn't leave

s4 - riley and tara would not exist

s5 - spike would be killed by drusilla

s6 - buffy would fall pregnant by angel like darla

s7 - intergrate s4 angel with the first evil and have an angelus return

Well to start this is what I would have preferred for each season:

S1: More Angel
S2: Even more Angel and B/Aus
S3: Less Faith
S4: More Angel, Oz and Cordy. Less Tara and Riley.
S5: I'd change everything except Forever.
S6: No spuffy and a LOT more Angel.
S7: More empowered Buffy and less bitchy Spike reliant Buffy.

In terms of storyline:

S1: I actually liked what we got but I wish it was Angel who forced Xander to help Buffy in PG.
S2: I would have liked for Buffy and Angel to become a couple faster even if they still didn't have sex until Innocence. And I would have loved it if we'd seen Buffy struggle to resist Angelus some more. I mean, she must have felt something for him right?
S3: No Faith. Sorry I just hated her in this season. I also would have liked it if Buffy had stood up for herself and her decisions more to her friends. They seemed to be blaming her a lot in this season.
S4: No Riley. No Adam. No initiative. S5 should have happened here and instead Dawn would have jumped into the portal with Buffy.
S5: No Dawn. Buffy's come back alive and we would have seen tons of ATS/BTVS crossovers with Angelus coming to Sunnydale after he tricked the gang into believing he was Angel.
S6: Would be Buffy and a real soulless demon, Angelus.
S7: Angelus would have gone through the trials and Angel would really have come back, this time permanently. He'd be there for her in the end.

I would change those as well

Also:
-Cordy turning into a villan and then sleeping with Connor *pukes*
-Willow/Tara. I love Willow and Tara as characters, but not a couple at all & Willow as a lesiban in general.
-Buffy/Riley.
-Angel leaving Sunnydale.
-Spike returning back to Sunnydale without Dru.
-The death of Cordy, Anya, Wes & Fred.
-Also Darla's death, also it was a good storyline, so I'm not sure. LOL.

ITA. I did grow to like Tara and accept Willow/Tara's relationship, but ultimately I would have preferred Willow/Oz and no Tara.

And big word to Buffy/Riley. Now, I actually don't hate Riley (i know, I'm weird

) but their whole relationship was just so unnecessary and forced. And to make matters worse, they had no chemistry or passion and I would rather watch paint dry, honestly.
