Treehouse of Horror XXI (11/7) - Episode Discussion
Treehouse of Horror XXI :
"War and Pieces" - when Marge suggests playing board games instead of violent video games, Bart and Milhouse have to escape a lifesize board game. "Tweenlight" - Lisa falls for a new student (voiced by Daniel Radcliffe) who happens to be a vampire. "Master and Cadaver" - in a Dead Calm spoof, Homer and Marge rescue a man at sea (voiced by Hugh Laurie) while on their second honeymoon, but they become convinced that, rather than surviving an attempted poisoning, he's the killer, and Homer and Marge are next on his list. From The Simpsons Archive Also here are some promo pics of the episode: __________________

Thanks for the pics and the descriptions!
I have to say, I didn't like this episode at all. It just felt more weird than scary, like many of the recent TOH episodes. Oh well. I did think "War and Pieces" was pretty cool because I love board games, but as a segment it wasn't that great. __________________

I actually thought it was pretty damn twisted, especially Homer in the Dead Calm spoof and the hangman with Bart and Milhouse.
I loved the Office credits with all the monsters. Homer in the Chutes and Ladders game was hilarious. Overall, there weren't a ton of laughs and most of the best jokes (Milhouse turning into a poodle, Homer boring Dracula, cooking Flanders for dinner, etc) were given away in the promos. I need to re-watch those segments with the games coming to life (Nelson and company playing air hockey was great) and Dracula-La Land to see all the visual gags, because there were a lot of them. Oh and lastly, Marge in a bikini? __________________

It's a good thing I didn't re-read the posts before I saw the episode or I would've been spoiled.
Did Marge always have her bikini-ready body or only after her Playboy shoot? I know the TOH eps tend to be AU, but I never predicted the endings to the "Tweenlight" and "Master and Cadaver" stories. Bart was right - Mousetrap, or whatever they called it, never worked. My favorite parody name was Ravenous Ravenous Rhinos. __________________

I think Marge has always been "sexy" under her mom image.
I re-watched, and I actually really like this TOH, it's different. I loved Jumanji as a kid so I really liked the first one. The second one had some good twists and the third one I didn't think I would like the first time I heard about it but it's cute. Milhouse turning into a poodle, Homer protecting Lisa. I've only played mousetrap once, and yup, it didn't work. |

I guess when the father and son literally sucked the life out of Homer, they got more than they expected. His fat cells protected Lisa.
