I'm not sure I've ever literally cried while watching the Simpsons, but there have been some sad moments for sure, like the above mentioned scene from the movie. I think the episodes that get me the most are the ones where Marge and Homer are fighting.
 I do hope the series does NOT end with her kicking him to the curb like Conan suggested in that 20th anniversary special.  __________________

Oh in my mind, even a bad Simpsons episode is better than at least 95 % of other shows out there. And this season they have had some really good ones.
I've watched the show since the beginning (can even remember seeing the shorts on Tracy Ullman). I'm in with baby to the bitter end.....which I hope won't be for a long time. __________________

It's hard to believe that the show seems tame when compared to other shows that are around these days.

I only got through number 6. Numbers 5 (the one with Ralph's Valentines Day card) and 6 (Homer's crayon in the brain) are on my list of favorites in general.
