It sounds like something that would have started on the internet, then they incorporated it into a scene.

Yeah, probably. There are some weird hairstyles in that show. Bart, Lisa & Maggie all appear to have no hair, just odd shaped heads. Then you have characters like Marge and Krusty.

Yeah, I think I may have too. When you look at other cartoons, their hair looks odd. It just seems to appear from nowhere.
