Season 2 General Discussion - Do the Bartman!

Episode List
  • Bart Gets an F
  • Simpson and Delillah
  • The Simpson's Halloween Special: Tree House of Horror
  • Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish
  • Dancin' Homer
  • Dead Putting Society
  • Bart vs. Thanksgiving
  • Bart the Daredevil
  • Itchy and Scratchy and Marge
  • Bart Gets Hit By a Car
  • One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish
  • The Way We Was
  • Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment
  • Principal Charming
  • Oh, Brother, Where Are Thou?
  • Bart's Dog Gets an F
  • Old Money
  • Brush With Greatness
  • Lisa's Substitute
  • The War of the Simpsons
  • Three Men and a Comic Book
  • Blood Feud

I actually remember this season better than the first one. The first Treehouse of Horror was introduced. In Two Cars, Burns ran for governor, and Marge served the three eyed fish for dinner.

My favorite episode was Bart the Daredevil - Bart decides he wants to jump Springfield Gorge after watching Lance Murdoch perform a motorcycle stunt. "Do the Bartman" also aired at the end of this episode.

I also like Dead Putting Society - Bart and one of the Flander's kids compete one-on-one in a mini-golf tournament. Wackiness ensues. The episode ends with both Homer and Ned mowing their respective lawns while wearing dresses.

Seriously did not know about the season threads. Then I looked at the date and found out it was made three months before I even joined.

I think of all the episodes in season two, Dead Putting Society has the memorable quotes. Here's some of my favorite:

Bart: But dad, I haven't won anything in my life.
Homer: Son, this is the only time I'm going to say this: It is not okay to lose.

Homer: All right, knock it off!
Ned: Knock what off, Simpson?
Homer: You've been rubbing my nose in it since I got here! Your family is better than my family, your beer comes from farther away, than my beer, you and your son like each other, and your wife's butt...
Ned: *gasp*
Homer: ... is higher than my wife's butt! You make me sick!
Ned: Simpson, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to ask you to leave. I hope you understand.
Homer: I wouldn't stay on a bet! *leaves, then comes back for another sandwich* One for the road.

Homer: Dear neighbor...*giggles* You are my brother. I love you. And yet I feel a great sadness...in my bosom!
Marge: Now just a darn minute!
Bart: Bosom.

Homer: What are you doing! That putter is to you what a bat is to a baseball player! What a violin is... to the... the guy that...the violin guy! Now c'mon! Give your putter a name.
Bart: What?
Homer: C'mon, give it a name.
Bart: Mister Putter.
Homer: D'oh... You wanna try a little harder son? C'mon give it a girl's name.
Bart: Mom.
Homer: Your putter's name is Charlene!
Bart: Why?
Homer: It just is, that's why! Now this, is a picture of your enemy, Todd Flanders. Every day, I want you to spend fifteen minutes staring at it. And concentrating on how much you hate him, and how glorious it will be when you and Charlene annihilate him!
Bart: Who's Charlene?
Homer: I'll show you who Charlene is! Now start hating!

Lisa: I want you to shut off the logical part of your mind.
Bart: Okay.
Lisa: Embrace nothingness.
Bart: You got it.
Lisa: Become like an uncarved stone.
Bart: Done.
Lisa: Bart, you're just pretending to know what I'm talking about!
Bart: True.
Lisa: Well, it's very frustrating!
Bart: I'll bet.

Homer: This time tomorrow, you'll be wearing high heels!
Ned: Nope, you will.
Homer: 'Fraid not.
Ned: 'Fraid so!
Homer: 'Fraid not.
Ned: 'Fraid so!
Homer: 'Fraid not infinity!
Ned: 'Fraid so infinity plus one!
Homer: D'oh!

Homer: C'mon Bart, remember what Vince Lombardi said: If you lose, you're out of the family.

I'm debating if I should buy the season two DVD with my 30% off coupon. I'm so torn right now, only because I bought a couple of DVDs since the holidays (Robot Chicken 1/2, Daria, True Lies, Puppet Master series 1-3, Trading Places)...

By the way, some of those DVDs were from a huge sale (particularly Daria and Trading Places) because Suncoast was closing down.

Aww, Homer with the hair. Shame, he actually looked a lot younger in the picture.

We all should do a DVD watching marathon though! I have seasons 1-5 (excluding season 2)

Still, considering a marathon? Problem is getting people together.
