"The Scorpion's Tale" - Episode Discussion

From The Simpsons Archive

The Scorpion's Tale
NABF08

After Lisa notices that the water in Springfield's desert makes normally agressive creatures passive, Homer gives some to Grampa, which cures his usual crankiness, only for a drug industry employee to try to duplicate the water's effects in pill form - including its side effects.

I thought the show couldn't get any weirder/grosser than the face off parody.

I was wrong.

I don't want to give it away, but let me know what you thought of the side effect

I thought this episode was pretty funny overall.

But yeah, the twist at the end was...um, weird. The funny thing is I was kind of expecting it because the description in my TV guide said something like, "Lisa makes an 'eye-popping' medical discovery." With "eye-popping" in quotes. And my mind went there. But I was like, surely it's not what I'm thinking, right? And yet it was.

Ohh, we don't get TV Guide, so I only went by the description on The Simpsons Archive . I could understand the side effect in which Grampa wasn't as crabby. But the whole eye-popping was more of a TOH thing.

Haha the eye popping didn't gross me out as much as the face off.

Yeah, I thought the face/off one was a lot more gross just because they actually attempted to draw large areas of exposed flesh and not just dangling eyeballs which were more comical/WTF? than anything else.

But isn't that eyeball dangling from a nerve? Doesn't that sound creepy - a NERVE? Picture it.

It still grosses me out a lot. But just the idea of ripping flesh off of your face. BLEH. Aha.
