At Long Last Leave - Episode Discussion

From The Simpsons Archive

At Long Last Leave
Episode #PABF07

The Simpsons stumble across another of those events where it seems that everybody else in Springfield knew about it in advance, but there's a reason for it this time; it's a town meeting that decides that they have had enough of the Simpsons' antics and vote to run them out of town.

I think they went through all the couch gags as a montage. I think this was the first time that we didn't see the family in their normal clothes (when they moved away).

I loved the couch gag montage!

Homer dressing up as Mr. Burns. "Nailed it!"

When burns kisses the monkey dressed up as Smithers.. Smithers: That's all it took? I just had to ask? LOL.

The episode felt really short for some reason.

I thought this episode was OK, but not great. As 'Sincerely, Me' said, it felt really short. I guess the extra-long couch gag plus the second opening sequence took a lot of time away from the show.

This made me sad though.

Yeah, and here we are now, saying how it was ok, not great. That sign must've worked!

I think most people are too harsh on this show, because people have grown up with it and nobody likes change, so when they make changes people hate it. :/ And after 500 episodes, you can't blame them for running out of ideas. It's still entertaining to me and I will forever love it.

I can admit it, I'm just as guilty complaining about this show. It seems like it's easier to nitpick at what isn't right with each show than to simply enjoy the show. Can you imagine if they had the internet as it is now back when the show started? We probably wouldn't be celebrating a 500th episode.

Valid point. There's a lot of old episodes that I didn't really like but no one would know. With the internet, if people start hating it catches on like a snowball effect and everyone starts! I'm glad it wasn't around/popular back then.

I don't really like to complain about the show. There still hasn't been an episode I can say I didn't like. Some I think were great, others not so good, but still love it. However, I think it is good to chat with other fans about what we liked/disliked about each show. Luckily, we don't get many people on here really putting the show down and moaning about everything. We're just here to chat and enjoy it
