"The Good, the Sad and the Drugly" - Episode Discussion

From The Simpsons Archive

The Good, the Sad and the Drugly
Episode #LABF07

Bart volunteers at the Springfield Retirement Castle in order to impress a girl, but this leaves Milhouse (who took the rap for a school prank he and Bart pulled) less than impressed; Lisa becomes depressed when she writes a report on what Springfield will be like 50 years from now.

I'll have to catch it on Hulu.

I'll have to catch it on Hulu too. It sounds good. The plot sounds a bit like "The Old Man and the "C" Student".

It was a good episode.

Surprised to find out Anne Hathaway guest starred as the girl Bart was trying to impress.

It was funny seeing Lisa taking the happy pills and everything she was seeing were smilie faces

Just saw the episode on Hulu
Anne Hathaway's voice sounded a bit deeper, more mature. I was expecting more along the lines of Princess Diaries.

I liked the continuity of Bart and Nelson being friends, Nelson encouraging Bart to "hit her".

I didn't recognize her voice until I saw the credits in the end.

It is cool that Bart and Nelson are still friends.

It said that Anne Hathaway was guest starring at the top of the Hulu page, so I guessed it was her.

I thought this episode was really cute overall. I liked how Bart pretended Homer was "special". Jealous, creepy Milhouse was pretty funny.

I actually sympathized with Milhouse. He could have easily ratted out Bart in the beginning and didn't. And it looked like the only contact Milhouse had with the outside world, when he was suspended, was through Bart. And Bart picked the girl over his buddy after what Milhouse did for him.

So yeah, I'll justify his creepiness

@Grilka. Yeah, I felt bad for Milhouse too, but if we remember, he's ditched Bart for a girlfriend (in the past) Fair's fair.

@Liz. The man puking smiley faces cracked me up. I tell ya for a 20-year old show, it still comes up with alot of clever material. Impressive.

I knew it was AH, which was cool - but she didn't do much for me honestly

Thanks, I like it too. You should visit us from time to time.

You have a good point about Milhouse leaving Bart for a girl. Milhouse should marry Lisa when they grow up. That might solve the problem.

I thought the satire for the meds was a little too broad for me. But I did like the name "Ignoritall".

@Pia. I'll try to stop by, count on it.

Yeah, that would definetly solve things - but I don't think Lisa would want things that way. I don't blame her, unless he grows into a totally different guy, but the future stuff we get, he seems the same ol' pathetic loser. Like his Dad.

I remember going to Spencer's when I was a kid and buying what looked like a pill bottle but filled with candy. The name was Damitol. I laughed when they called it Ignorital and remembered the fake pill bottle.

Ken- that was hilarious when the guy was puking smilie faces I also liked when they show that Chief Wiggum is after Snake and he shoots him and he starts bleeding and it's all smilie faces

Hilarious when Willie told Bart that he had a swedish girlfriend and it was true

Poor Lisa, almost got it to the face with the fan Maggie was holding, also shown as more smilie faces.
