Four Great Women and a Manicure- Episode Discussion

From The Simpsons Archive

Four Great Women and a Manicure #LABF09

A discussion at a nail salon over whether or not women can be beautiful, intelligent, and popular all at once leads to another one of those "Simpsons characters as famous people" anthologies, with Selma as Elizabeth I, Marge as Lady Macbeth, Lisa as Snow White, and (what I presume is an adult) Maggie (voiced by Jodie Foster) as one of the characters from Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead (although it's not clear if she's Dominique Francon or a female version of Peter Keating).

Thanks for starting the thread Liz.

I always enjoy the historical episodes. It's The Simpsons go AU.

I'm not always wild about the AU eps. But I'll be home to watch this one this time.

I really enjoyed this one! I didn't really love Maggie's story, it was just weird. Maybe b/c I'm not familiar with "The Fountainhead"? But then again I don't know much about Elizabeth I, and I enjoyed that one.

Very strange, but I think there was absolutely no Bart in this episode. Has that ever happened before?

I'm not a fan of these type of Simpsons episodes. The last one... where Maggie speaks... was cute. Jodie Foster I think did the voice. I was shocked.

The "Ho Hai" song amused me though.

Yeah, I didn't even notice Bart wasn't in the ep until you brought it up.
I can't remember if this is a first.

Did you hear the Ho Hi song during the end credits?!? I don't remember if it was the same lyrics as the one in the ep. These are the lyrics I'm referring to:

We'll get take out and then make out.
We're bi, we're bi, we're bi...

Watched the episode yesterday. Wow there really was no Bart in the episode

The Ho Hi song was hilarious I love the part where the dwarves were heading home and they were singing that they were going to get high with the mushrooms

Maggie talking and voiced by Jodie Foster

I think my faves out of the stories was the Queen Elizabeth I and Snow White one

I loved in the first one that Selma aka Elizabeth I comes out in a towel with her hairy legs and her hair all frazzled and Moe goes that they need to call Beowulf again because Grendel is here

Moe's line about Grendel was hilarious! I also liked the part when Selma as Elizabeth said, "I love you" and Marge wanted clarification as to who she was referring to. I guess that's why I got confused thinking it was Patty and not Selma.

Either way even if it was Patty, in both cases they're sisters. Yuck.

I liked the Elizabeth I and Snow White ones the best too. For some reason I thought Nelson or Milhouse would be the Prince in the Snow White one.

I liked that line also when Selma was saying I love you Like who was she talking about?

It would have been great if Nelson or Milhouse would have been the prince in Lisa's story.

Wasn't it Moe who tried to kiss Lisa?
