Elementary School Musical (9/26 ~ Season Premiere) - Episode Discussion

22nd SEASON PREMIERE • Elementary School Musical (MABF21)

Lisa spends her summer at a performing arts camp (with counselors voiced by Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie of Flight of the Conchords and campers voiced by Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, and Amber Riley of Glee and when she gets back to Springfield, she realizes she'd rather be somewhere that's a little less boring.

Thanks for starting the thread Liz!

I wonder if another album will come out of this episode.

I mentioned this in a previous thread, possibly the News thread, that it would be nice if they were also part of the episode commentary when the season set is released.

I think that would be cool if that happened

Can't wait for this episode...really looking forward to the guest stars I love Flight of the Conchords so can't wait to see Jemaine and Bret. And of course the Glee kids

I'm not familiar with Flight of the Conchords, but I have seen a couple episodes of Glee.

FOTC only had two seasons and it was on HBO...loved it. It was a comedy and also they would sing in the episodes like Glee.

Thanks for the thread, Liz! Love the pics.

I've seen a few clips of FotC but I don't know much about the show. I'm excited to see the Glee kids, but I just found out yesterday that The Cleveland Show somehow got the whole cast on their show!

I think the Krusty as a Roman Polanski-type plot could have been pretty interesting, but they kind of dropped the ball there. I did like some of the names of the YouTube (or er...MyTube) clips that Homer and Bart were looking at in an attempt to clear Krusty.

As for Lisa's plot, the FotC guys were pretty funny, but overall it just had a been there done that already feel (via Homer's Rock n' Roll fantasy camp).

There were a couple of good lines. I loved Abe's little "my dream is to be able to walk up the stairs like an 8-year-old girl" line, and since I'll always be 12 at heart, the "how was farts camp, Lisa?" and other taunts from Nelson and his pals made me laugh.

Overall, though, I thought it was disappointing.

I had the same feeling as Lisa - her stay at camp seemed too short.

That's because we really only got to see her arrive and leave...and the rest was just relayed to us through a montage of pics on her camera.

I don't think the Simpsons should bother having these subplots in each episode. Sometimes they don't work well together and seeings as how each episode is already only about 25 minutes, nothing gets enough time.

I don't even remember the Homer/Bart/Krusty subplot...shows how much I paid attention.

Oh my god, my posts have had so many typos in them lately! This is horrible.

I think I was disappointed in this episode because FOX released so many preview clips on YouTube and I watched all of them. So pretty much everything interesting was old to me. I thought the Raffi/Roofi parody was hilarious though. I listened to his music when I was younger.
