"The Burns Cage" - Episode Discussion
From The Simpsons Archive
The Burns Cage Episode VABF10 When Smithers decides that he'll never end up with Mr. Burns, Homer decides to set him up with someone else; "Everybody Comes to Milhouse's" when, thanks to Bart, he ends up as the lead in the school production of Casablanca - with Lisa as his co-star. __________________

Oh, I get the title now - it was originally "The Bird Cage".

Not sure what to think of it. It was supposed to be a "coming out" episode, but I thought Smithers was already out? I really liked Smithers song though. __________________

Maybe it was implied Smithers was out. But then again, wasn't he part of the Pride Parade that Springfield had?

Yeah, there have so many situations where Smithers is clearly "out". Maybe he came out for Mr. Burns?
I was excited about a new love interest for Smithers. I liked him and Julio. And I hope they go back to that. B/c the idea of Smithers pining away for Mr. Burns isn't funny anymore to me. It's just sad. __________________

But would Julio take him back? All Smithers thought about was Mr. Burns.

I watched the episode again. Mr. Burns should have had a third party install those trap doors.
