He certainly was. Even if he was scared, he tended not to show it. Very strong

And even when he was scared, and clearly showed it, he didn't back down. He was willing to do things that terrified him in order to protect the people he cared about.

there's nothing wrong with being scared once in a while ... might be what saves your life at one point

Oh, definitely. Like when Valenti saves him from creepy Pierce. Even though Alex didn't realize that it was Pierce in the car, he knew enough to know that things were not good and he took Valenti's offer of a ride home.
