"Careless", directed by Peter Spears stars Colin Hanks and Tony Shalhoub (Monk). The dark comedy is about the man Wiley Roth, played by Colin, who finds a finger in his kitchen one day and searches for the hand to which it belongs. After freaking out he and his best friend Mitch (Fran Kranz) search across Los Angeles. This journey brings them in contact with psychics, ineffectual police, crooked taxidermists, mysterious neighbors who might be on drugs, and a nine-fingered woman named Cheryl (Rachel Blanchard) who might, improbably, end up being the girl of his dreams.

Director Peter Spears is a successful actor and besides this he is known for his Sundance Film Festival Hit "Ernest and Bertram". He recently worked on a new HBO series and on a project named "Asphalt Beach" which is a movie musical.

Composer John Frizzell completed the the score for the independent film "Careless" in the end of May 2006 and according to Northwestern.edu, the production has been finished in July, 2006.

Wiley Roth (Colin Hanks) finds a severed human finger in his kitchen one night. Hanks shines in the lead role by using his distinctive delivery and impeccable timing to fashion himself an everyman looking for love in all the wrong places. Notable supporting roles enhance the quest, especially Tony Shalhoub as Hanks’ gruff but caring father and Blanchard as the enchanting nine-fingered mystery woman. First time feature director Peter Spears shows a refreshingly subtle comedic touch and transforms an outrageous premise into a disarmingly sweet and funny tale. CARELESS is a fun ride and marks the emergence of a talented new voice.

Whoa, I actually haven't heard that much info on this movie till now, it sounds interesting and very original.

there is not much information out there about Careless ... at least not on imdb and I haven't found much else yet
