LADY Victoria Hervey has revealed she has quit Britain for good, because her fellow countrymen are "miserable".

The former It Girl - a close friend of Tara Palmer-Tomkinson - left the party circuit in December to try and make it in Hollywood.

Despite little success, she said: "I left London at the right time because there's absolutely nothing going on right now.

"I don't plan to come back - I mean, why would I? I found the people and the weather so miserable."

The older sister of Isabella - winner of Channel 4 sports show The Games - is now trying to break into acting.

Her only experience was a cameo as herself in Absolutely Fabulous, but she now has a small role as a waitress in movie thriller Rx opposite Tom Hanks' son Colin.

She told Weekend magazine: "It was scary when I first got here - I did wonder what I was doing."

Her London boutique Akademi, went into liquidation owing �350,000.

I found this recent interview of Colin's dad which mentioned colin but I wanted to post it because I thought the first story he told was funny

If Tom Hanks had listened to his dad, he would have a steady job by now."My dad was good with tools, I wasn't. My dad worked in the restaurant business and I didn't really want to do that. I remember I was in the shower once getting ready for school and I didn't hear the bathroom door open and the next thing he rips the shower curtain open and says, 'They're hiring down at Jack-In-The-Box!' And I'm taking a shower, so I'm naked, and I'm like, 'Uh, dad, why would I want to take a job in Jack-In-The-Box?' And he says, 'Aw hell, any idiot can make assistant manager in six months!'"

Hanks's first marriage was to the actress Samantha Lewis. They met and married while still at California State University, and had two children together: Colin, 26, is an actor, and Elizabeth, 21, is a student who hopes to be a writer. Hanks was often an absent father, away filming when they were growing up, and it wasn't a happy marriage. Hanks admits that he felt terribly guilty when it finally broke down in the early Eighties.

"I am never going to feel happy about those times," he said later. "The very worst aspect of separating was that I was sentencing my own kids to the same sort of feeling I'd suffered at their age. I felt horribly guilty. Food did not taste good, life was not nice and I did not sleep. I was in a bad house, with rented furniture, my marriage was smashed on the rocks and I had two kids I hadn't been home for."

July 29, 2004 - Actors Jaime Bell (Billy Elliot, Nicholas Nickleby) and Evan Parke (The Replacements, Planet of the Apes) have joined the cast of Lord of the Rings filmmaker Peter Jackson's Universal-based remake of King Kong, according to today's Hollywood Reporter.

18-year-old Bell, who danced his way into the hearts of filmgoers in 2000's Billy Elliot, will reportedly play a "young cameraman who accompanies Carl Denham (Jack Black's character), a filmmaker, on a quest to Skull Island to find Kong. This may or may not be the same role that Colin Hanks (Roswell) has been associated with.

Parke, who plays detective Raymond Cooper on ABC's L.A. Dragnet, portrays the first mate on the Venture, the tramp steamer that sails to Skull Island. The trade adds that he ends up heading the rescue team sent into the jungle to save Naomi Watts' character

JAY KAY'S GOT A NEW LADY

Rock millionaire Jay Kay is reportedly dating 'It Girl' Lady Victoria Hervey.

The chain-smoking Jamiroquai singer apparently bumped into the aristocrat while recording his new album in LA.

The pair hit it off immediately and have had a string of dinner dates, according to the Sunday Mirror.

An insider told the paper: "Jay was really smitten by Victoria. They were inseparable when they were out in Los Angeles.

"They tried to keep their dinner dates hush-hush but Victoria found him absolutely charming.

"Jay is not the kind of guy she normally goes for but she found him irrestistible."

Society girl Victoria moved to LA last year to try to make it as an actress.

She has reportedly bagged a role in a thriller called RX starring Tom Hanks' son Colin.

Naomi Watts To Play King Kong's Crush After 'The Ring 2'

Watts, along with Jack Black, Adrien Brody and Colin Hanks, will shoot "King Kong" in September, after she finishes "The Ring 2."
