Of course, that's if we go the route of Ros-denial and assume that Alex really did go to Sweden. (Which I don't have a problem with - I believe my stance on the wonders of Ros-denial is well known

Yeah, assuming that he did go to Sweden (there's the Ros-denial), what would he have brought back to her? Souvenires or something like that, or would he spend some serious time in serious stores to find something she'd truly love?

Hmm.... Alex would probably want to bring back all his friends something from his trip. And he'd try to convince himself that he was just shopping for something for Isabel because she's his friend and the holidays are coming up, that he was really over her and that it didn't mean anything much. But he'd probably spend an awful lot of time trying to find the right gift anyway.

of course, he'd think a lot about the gift ... after all, it was supposed to say "Friend-gift" not "madly in love-gift"

The typical things to buy over here I guess would be some kind of flag, or something related to a moose or some T-shirt with a flag on it. Stuff like that. But those things are not really exciting gifts, so to speak.

So I think he would spend a lot of time thinking about her gift, not only because of the "friend"-factor but also because he would want to get her something really nice, even though they were just supposed to be friends
