He does look so helpless in that scene.

Yeah. But then again, his options were kind of limited. And neither were any good.

I always felt he would have gone to Angel, but maybe it was his unconscious feeling for Buffy bringing him there.

I am not sure. with his feelings for Angel, the need to be tough for him, to be able to take their brawls. I think showing himself weak for him would have felt worse for him that getting dusted by the slayer.

and besides, after their last encounter, Angel was perhaps not very keen on helping him?

It might have, but Angel's still the one he considered a sire, I think Angel would have felt obligated to help him.

And I think that encounter was probably the norm for soulless vampires. Darla/Angel did that a lot too

come to think of it Sparmony is a quite good "battered wife"story. Where she reacts like all abused spouses ought to.

Ok, I feel like a prying blondie for asking this but, I was going way down the threads, and encountered this, on the "Cupid"thread from 2003: (btw, do we really have 2003-threads? I thought it all went in the Big Crash in 2004.)

Well, wasn't Mercedes like 20 when James went out with her? Age not a problem with him, thank God..

Usually, I don't like to go into stories about James' private life...but since this is just a cute story that Mercedes has told in public, I will tell you what she said. She was asked if it was true she "dated" James Marsters when they were both on BTVS. She said that they had one date. It went well and she thought she'd hear from him again. But time went on....and , I guess , on. One day she got a phone call from James asking for a second date and she turned him down (having moved on and being then involved with another guy) .

At that time, Mercedes would have been in her early 20's and James would have been 35 or 36. They are still very friendly and when he put together his "James & Friends" Queen Mary event, she was invited to be there and participate. They were hysterical when they had to watch themselves doing that "panther crawl" scene. She was blushing and giggling like crazy and James had his head down and was covering his eyes with his hand....also giggling like a kid.

Thank you so much!!! You know my strong distaste for gossip and rumours about him, but I really needed to know if that story was anything or not (it sort of seemed vaguely more beliveable than other stuff I have heard, so I figured it could have been something small, like this.)

at 36 huh? Thanks a lot for the time. I have been wondering about that!

Wow, nice picture! But i was surprised that that was him! Where did the curls go?

On the Queen Mary he had just had a really expensive haircut and had dyed his hair sort of black. He seemed to have had it straightened as well. He was auditioning for jobs at the time and I guess he thought that would be a good look for him. It was sort of his "James Bond" phase.

He looked good enough, but it just didn't seem like him and it didn't last long. He said he never got any jobs from looking like that and when he went back to cutting his own hair (which he does! ), he started getting work!
