Thanks for the new thread. I like the choice of title

I also enjoy looking at all the great Spike moments in the OP.

"Am I even remotely scary anymore?"

Yeah Id be surprised to hear a human give a suicide speech like that.

I love our OP Ash made it

I guess even someone who has never seen him can get some sort of idea of his story though those.

Definitely, those pics and quotes do a great job of telling his story.

I love his Billy Idol look, I might add.

Well, well, well, I might have to dig for the punk-Spike thread

Posting around here has given me the itch to go and have a Buffy marathon. I think I need to watch S5 and S6, in particular, because I always loved both of those seasons for Spike and for the overall arcs. I tend to watch S2 and S3 more often than the others, but then I get reminded of how much more greatness there is beyond that.

No need to dig. That's what the Board Guide is for avoiding

You should Personally I consider S 2 and 3 just a warm up, before the real greatness come

Right. Board guide. I am catching on

I love S2. It is my favorite season overall, for various reasons, not the least of which is the intro to Spike and Dru.

But you are right, there is soooo much more great stuff that comes after. Which is why I still consider Buffy my all-time favorite TV show. Undoubtedly

I remember watching the show during S2 and loving Spike so much that I kept hoping and hoping they wouldn't kill him off like all the other baddies And then when he left at the end of the season, I remember praying they'd bring him back.

Let's just say, when I heard the announcement that he was coming back to be a regular for S4, my prayers had been answered

it is one of those rare few shows that gets better and better the longer it runs, rather than worse, like most shows.

I am so happy they didnt ever stake him I cant even imagine what the show would have been if they did

I'm sure you already know this, but Spike was initially supposed to be staked after 3 episodes. But, of course, James was so amazing that they decided to "delay" his death. And then, they decided he really shouldn't die at all.

Best decision ever!!!

He was also initially supposed to be southern. I think if he had been southern instead of British, he may have been staked after all

I dont think it was after 3 eps. I get the impression he originally had 5. (he was meant to get dusted in WML, when Buffy ended up just snapping his spinal cord.)

He became british bc of Giles, sicne another brit would fit nicely ANd then his accent got shaped into totally believeable british bc of ASH, who gave James lessons in it

Hehehe. See, I knew you would know all about it Maybe 3 eps was an exaggeration on my part. I just know that his original fate was to meet the pointy end of a stake. I would have cried so hard if they had let that happen

Yes! I do remember James talking about how his accent was influenced by ASH's real accent. I think when I read that I was like, what? ASH doesn't really sound like Giles in real life?

I heard him telling that story in person. And it was a little more than influence. ASh reacted to the poor quality of his original Spike-accent (he gave us a demonstration, and I was surprised that he actually remembered one of his first lines still) So he offered to give him lessons in between their other work, and so, word by word, during the second season, he got it right.

Really? I didn't know ASH gave him actual lessons. That is a very cool anecdote.

I've never seen James in person. That must have been a lot of fun

Well, actually, I have found that watching on YT is better (at least when the recording is good) in RL there's so much other noise, I cant turn the volume up if I cant hear what he is saying, and I had a place in the back, where I couldnt see him as clearly as some others could. YT gets his face much clearer (and the temperature of the room (or, in that case, tent) is not within my control either., like it is at home

But of course, being there in the same room as him is awesome and if I could work up the courage to ask a question myself I am sure I would have loved it all the more
