Go back to the USA to cut a deal, I assumed. But filming could be anywhere. Maybe Vancouver...because that's away...but not too far away for him to get home or family to come visit.

Here's the real deal...from his Official site:

News from James

James has accepted a fantastic new acting role from a UK company. We will share more details with you about the project once producers have given us the okay to do so. However, we wanted to tell you as soon as possible because unfortunately it conflicts directly with the Fangoria Convention of June 21-22 in New Jersey. As of now we still expect to be able to attend DragonCon in August, but must cancel the earlier event and we apologize for the inconvenience we know this will cause to some of you.

I'm sure some UK companies film things outside the UK..but I think chances are good that it is something that James will be doing in the UK for 9 months. Very interesting....

And here is something I hesitated to bring over because it is so unpleasant to think of a "fan" making untrue accusations. But since Steve Himber chose to make a public point of clearing the air, I think it is something he would want us to know and think about. (Please,as he said, don't e-mail him)

Message from Steve Himber

THE GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY - THE TRUTH ABOUT CONVENTIONS

I wanted to share a few reflections with you about the recent week of the tour. Let's start with the good - and there was a lot! Great seeing all the old familiar faces and meeting so many new. Thanks to Torchwood there is a whole new group of folks who have discovered James and now share in the enthusiasm of everything James. Eve Myles, Kai Owen, Gareth David Lloyd and all the Torchwood writers - need I say more, the absolute best! The staff of JMLive, who I simply couldn't do these events without. People having fun, meeting new friends, Union Chapel's great acoustics, lots of good laughs and memories. Some great performances by James.

The bad... Unfortunately the concert scheduled for The Rift didn't happen. James wasn't well and wasn't able to perform. We gave it our best to provide an alternative form of entertainment (bless Kai, Justine and Gareth) and now I'm the star of a u-tube video (this is very bad). Some of the weather was bad but typical for London this time of year. Some of the train services provided a challenge to many making their way to Milton Keynes and back. As usual, long lines.

Sadly, the ugly... rumors, innuendos and lies. The truth be told, it seems to come from only a very small group of 'fans' but nonetheless very vocal ones. Let me assure you, that a few bad apples won't ruin it for the rest of us. One 'fan' in particular has overstepped the boundaries and I'm going to set the record straight once and for all. This lady wrote me an email alleging not only that James was too drunk to perform at The Rift and complaining about the event, but effectively calling him a liar about his illness. I'm also told she's been very busy on the fan boards, but I don't read those.

To which I now publicly respond as follows: "Please don't insult us by being so miserably dissatisfied but still following James around from event to event - we don't want it! You have a strange way of showing support with this approach. We can certainly take constructive criticism but your behavior is neither constructive or productive, your allegations are untrue and you are no longer welcome."

For those of you wondering why is Steve making this so very public? The reason is simple, enough is enough and I realize that one or two individuals are doing everything they can to ruin the experience James, I and the team work very hard to bring to the 99% wonderful fandom. Please don't send me e-mails good or bad about this message - just simply digest it for what it is worth and make up your own mind. We continue to welcome everyone who wants to join in a good time or give us constructive feedback about how to have a better one.

Respectfully,

Steve

how can anyone do such things!? That's terrible! If she is not satisfied, she should just stop going... Wonder what the heck it is she gets out of spreding such lies

Glad this person hasn't come here and poisoned our board with stuff like that.

yeah i heard some people say these things in the queue at the Borderline..that was actually one of the first things I'd heard when I arrived there

I didn't think much of it though, but was sort of wondering why they even showed up at the concert when they were already so angry with him.

I doubt that they will stay away from future events though, even though Steve wrote they'd not be welcome.

Can't believe someone would be so pathetic. I'm glad he wrote about it though, cause it really shames them as fans.
I really wanna hear more about this UK company project, sounds exciting. I wouldn't say no to him being here for a long period of time.

I wouldnt say no to that either. especially if it increases the chances of an UK-event I could go see him at during the next year

except maybe when you're totally new to the fandom and don't actually know James that well yet. I'm not saying that I believed any of the stuff being said there, but I can imagine others doing so.

I'm part of a few fandoms and have gone through worse (concerts being cancelled because the singer just wasn't feeling like going on stage that day, stuff like that), so if he had a few drinks that day at the rift, who cares? what I've experienced in that week was that James really gives a lot to his fans, everyone in this fandom is so freaking lucky, I think a lot of people don't see that anymore and demand more and more everytime. They should see how others treat their fans

that is what I said, the only reason why people would believe such stories, is if they're too new to the fandom to really know him.

I dont think I'm being too prejudiced by saying that he is a better man than most other celebs. he wouldn't dissapoint his fans just because he's not feeling like meeting us, or, like the rumours say, get lost in booze and skip his responsibilites due to drunkenness. (He has showed up at events even when he's been dead tired or injured) Maybe people who are new to this assume that he "must" have done things other celebs might do, like these things in the rumours...

I dont watch much television, and have no real interest in celebs in general - but he is special! I so envy those who get to meet him. do they know how lucky they are? I really hope my turn come soon!

Fangoria replied to people asking about refunds that James had accepted a movie role.

Movie? I am almost a little disappointed. I was hoping for a tv-series, as that would give way more hours on screen.

but if this movie will keep him occupied for nine months then he must have a lead in it

Well, Steve called it a "fantastic new acting role"....so that's good enough for me.
