James has gotten a recurring role in the Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica.

dont get your hopes too high up. That only rarely happens. But hope springs eternally

Sure.

Caprica is about a group of humans that live on twelve colonized planets in an unspecified galaxy. "Caprica" is the name of one of the planet/colonies, which is home to a major, metropolitan city where I think most of the series will take place. There are a lot of terrorist activities, mostly pertaining to religious differences-- really its no different than normal Earth problems as of late, only they have twelve planets to deal with instead of one. Most of humanity is polytheistic, believing in most of the ancient gods that we are familiar with (from Greek mythology). But, there is a small underground movement of those who believe in one god. And, these people are directly tied to the terrorist activities, or so it appears. This is just the general gist, of course. I am sure there will be a lot more going on.

Also, Caprica will show the creation and development of the "Cylons" which are the main protagonists in BSG. They are robots, who are made to serve the humans and fight their wars. But they eventually evolve and resent humanity for making them slaves. But, this will happen over the course of many, many years, so it is entirely possible that we will never see the uprising during Caprica, the series.

Interesting:9 So it pretty much deals with modern day society's problems, but in a sci-fi universe?

Artificial intelligence? That really brings the question of what life really is close to home

So they are sentient, not just machines carrying out operations?

Precisely. It's the best kind of SciFi for that reason.

And, yes, the robots are sentient. And the meaning of life is BIG theme. If you watch the pilot, you will see this theme addressed right away.

a thing the robot inventors didnt seem to consider, that. that when you create emotion, you pretty much have to end up getting will in on the bargain
