Oh! another scene that came in my mind is the beginning of "Death things" and the suggestion of the handcufs ... very shocking.

Maybe she was there to help James make it seem more realistic! You know his expression and everything

I wonder if they actually used them...and when she said "never" it sounded so much like she meant "always"

Yes you are right... Buffy always gave the impression of been using reverse psychology too much... no meant yes and yes meant no.

If a feminist read that she'd have a heart attack

But its true! Buffy's mechanism defense made her too hard to read and Spike lost almost all his intuition with her after falling in love.

This comment leads me to the other scene that passed the censorship ... my most hated one... the almost rape in Seeing Red... IMO Buffy was as guilty as Spike because when she said no she meant yes and Spike just acted like the used to... when she meant yes... don't hate me for saying this please. I think that scene ruined Spuffy for a long time.

I guess she forgot what Spike really was and he reacted like an animal instead of a rational person. I blame both of them for the AR scene but most of all I blame MARTI!

Though now that I think about it wasn't such a bad idea... Spike WAS an animal on a leash, and he was desperate and obsessed. It isn't so uncommon to confuse power with will.

I explain:

Maybe Spike felt he had the power to make Buffy love him and sex was the only was he found.

Now, Buffy may have felt that she had the power to use Spike and make him use her but at the end no one had any power over the other or over themselves.

All they had was their own will and they were so seduced with one another that they lied to themselves about their feelings. When the truth came out, it was ugly.

Nikki I like your post... but I have to say Marti Noxon really screwed Spuffy.
