I have been playing some Guild Wars 2 this week. It's fun to see some of my online friends, a few I met in person, still playing the game. I haven't been on in a while [and they understand because work can get busy].

My first MMO was Ragnarok Online, but it was the person who runs DnD (who I used to work with as well) who got me playing World of Warcraft.

No? I first started playing Atari... not sure how old I was... probably 5 or 6.

As a kid, my first console was a Sega Genesis. Later in middle school, I got a Gameboy Color. I didn't get Nintendo DS until college and also now own an XBOX. I want a Playstation in the future. The Nintendo Switch looks nice, and I wanted it badly, but I played it at my cousin's house and wasn't impressed with the feel of the handheld. I rather own a Playstation over the Switch.

I would play more World of Warcraft if it didn't cost money every month. I like that GW2 is just a one-time purchase. I did the trial for WoW and liked the toons though. My PC is also low-end and not a gaming PC so can't play a lot of great looking MMOs.

I've been holding off on buying a Switch waiting for the price to drop... granted now that my nearest store no longer sells much for electronics I'm not sure when I will get one... I think Shoppers Drug Mart might still have them... so maybe at some point... until then I got my Wii U and the older consoles.

If you can make enough gold in World of Warcraft you can essentially play for free... but with the inflation recently it makes it hard for it to be viable for me... I mean I guess I could, but for me... 200,000+ gold is worth more to me than the $15 a month average per month cost of playing.

There are private servers out there for WoW, and I have tried playing on a private server for a while, but with the perks and add-ons of private servers it makes me feel like I am cheating. lol Also it isn't quite legal to do that, but it's not worse than streaming sites. Leveling in MMOs is actually my favorite part. I know a lot complain about the grind, but it gives me a good opportunity to learn how to play my character better.

I don't think I'd want to play on a private server on that game. I've done private other stuff before... and it sucks when the server is gone and all your characters.

That hasn't happened to me before, but I also wasn't on any private servers long enough for that to happen. lol

I'm more talking about Ragnarok Online, there were plenty of those around back in the day... haven't looked for one in ages... but I wish the official servers would do more updates and I'd consider playing it more than once a year... my favourite class (Soul Linker) is still capped at level 99, most other classes can go to Level 150.

I used to play Ragnarok Online. Long time ago. A friend from high school introduced me to it. He met his girlfriend on there. I believe they got married. He moved up to Canada to be with her after graduation.
