I think some want to ship the Fairytale love like Bangel.

Others want to ship the Realistic love like Spuffy/Cangel.

I've always been into the more realistic couples. Not usually a fan of the first-intended couples, with a few exceptions like DJ and RM.

CA was realistic to me. Cordy was no longer BTVS Cordy. She was her own person and had found her place in the world. She and Angel grew to know each other better than anyone. It was only natural that their relationship would progress. I never understood why people didn't see it coming

I get that to. Even though when I watched all of Angel I already knew, the clues were all there.

I see it coming! Or, rather, I read this board, so I *know* it is coming and I want it to happen so I'm excited to see it play out.

I hate the first-intended couples, they're boring. It has to be very well done to get my appreciation.

I didn't see Cangel coming at first because I never really believed that Angel could fall for another woman (bangel was so powerful at that time) until I watched the Pylea episodes. When season 3 started I was already thinking that Cordy would be Angel's greatest love. So it was a nice surprise for me.

However, I did see Spuffy coming since the very beginning. It was so obvious.

It's very rare I like those couples as well. Maybe Piper/Leo, though I don't know if they were really intended to last like they did.

Part of the problem with those first ships is that we never see their history, or if we do, it is just so obvious that it is 'building history for inevitable hookup' that it isn't natural and real. Whereas, with the second or third round, we have gotten to know the characters so well and we can watch their natural evolution into who they have become over the series and who they would be best with.

I just don't think even as the writers and creators, that you can know at the very beginning of a show who the character will fit best with in the end. What's good is when the writer is open to that evolution instead of not being able to see past that ship they envisioned in the pilot.

Initially, I didn't particularly love Angel the character in BtVS and he didn't interest me that much (except as Angelus, when he was all things awesome), so I sort of dragged my feet about watching AtS, but now that I'm watching it, I just realize that we never really knew Angel when he was on Buffy and her view of him is just so off that even considering them together is almost silly to me at this point.
