I just think that after she found out she was the slayer her outlook changed on who she would be friends with, it especially made her see after she witnessed how Cordelia was with Willow at the water fountain. I think being the slayer, and therefore being different made her see a different side in people, and being able to relate to other people besides the 'popular' crowd. Buffy used to be Cordelia-esque at her old school before becoming the slayer, and therefore kind of a freak (in her eyes), and sought out friends she could relate with. Not to put hate on the Cordelia side at all, she was shallow when she was on BTVS but grew the same as Buffy did while on ATS. I love Cordy either way.

I think it was easier for someone with Buffy's duty to befriend the outcasts then the popular kids. She couldn't hide her secret worth a damn if she in the spotlight with Queen C all the time.

True about it being easier for her to be an outcast as Slayer.

But if Cordy was Slayer, I could just imagine her bringing crosses and holy water 'en vogue.'

I could see that too.

But honestly I'm so glad she wasn't a slayer -- it just made her character more heroic to me.

i could totally see that

and i am with you there mel, i don't even care much for the cordy becomes the slayer fics that are out there unless it is the one where cordy then buffy get dumped in that au verse and cordy/angel are dating (happily not all angst feasty like bangel) and buffy is the cordy character...in that one cordy still acts like herself and so does buffy

exactly I'm the same way -- honestly Cordelia became an inspirational hero due to the fact that she chose and was not chosen.

I agree. I think Cordy was a more normal girl and that's why I can relate better with her than with Buffy.

I always related to Faith the most.

I can relate to S6 Buffy a bit.

And old school BTVS Cordy some.

Well, I don't have visions or supernatural strength but there's something about Cordelia that I found easy to relate to. I don't know exactly what it is though
