The Questions & Answers Thread

Hello lovely posters;

If you have been a regular poster on the board you may have noticed various attempts from our (the moderators) part to create a thread in which we'd provide the general most important answers newbies normally need.

As I have said, you may have noticed "various" attempts, and that is because we have tried it many many times and those many many times...we never succeeded. We are aware this is a help board and therefore we do our best to create help threads that will helps us have all the answers to any possible questions and all the solutions to any possible problem for all newbies.

So, this is our newest attempt. A thread where we will not give all answers before hand, were we will not provide imaginary questions with its respective imaginary answers (we already have How To threads which we are fairly proud of), we will not provide a set of links for Newbies to visit in case of doubt but we will be here, to answer all questions to all newbies at all times.

You will think this is a weird thread to start, specially since it seems to be such a simple idea. But that is exactly what we intend it to be. We have never had a thread dedicated only to questions. We have an introduction thread, a rules and guidelines thread and various other help threads but despite all of those threads being suitable for all kinds of questions, we do not have an specific thread dedicated mainly to the doubts. And that is the reason why we have decided to create it.

This does not mean that Newbies cannot start fresh topics to ask their questions, we will always accept that option, but with a general specific thread for questions and answers we assure ourselves a source of information for newbies. Newbies will be able to browse and find the answers to the questions they have in mind and will be able to do it in just one thread, without the need to browse 12 pages full of different topics.

Let's get started, then! This thread has no rules or notes or anything at all. We just want you to ask your questions and we will provide you the best answers we can find. We also ask you to read the pages of the thread before asking your questions, in case someone's question may be of use to you. It is possible we develop some sort of archive with the time but that's only a vague idea in our minds, and that would happen if the thread had the popularity we wish it to have.

Thank you!

What is the post limit to have a signature? I see the option in my User CP, but after I made one, it just defaulted back to being blank.

There is no post limit to have a signature, I think it's possible you clicked the "Preview" button instead of the "Save" button and maybe that's why it doesn't seem to work?

It could also be because of the software upgrade Fan Forum has recently experienced, maybe it takes a little while longer, but I think you should try to do it again, and it will work

Fan Forum is divided into different boards (like the Newbies board or, say, the Alias board) and each board is divided into threads (which are different topics where people comment and discuss things, like this is a thread destined to Questions and Answers but we also have another one dedicated to the Introductions or even dedicated to games). Threads are divided into posts, which is what each member replies to the one above.

You posted a reply into a thread, but if you wanted to open a brand new topic to discuss what you liked, you'd open what we call "a thread".

I hope I explained myseld clear enough :) Let me know!

What do you mean you 'can't message people in your thread'? I don't understand what you mean, but if you could explain it a little bit more detailed maybe we could be able to help you

ok. well, I posted a new thread right?. and when I wanna get in it, and you know...send a new message . I don't have the "quick reply" thing

- cris - 08-30-2006 02:43 AM

That is really weird  Did you make sure the thread hadn't been closed? And if it hadn't been closed did you try to post your response by the "Reply to thread" option instead of the quick reply? Perhaps the quick reply is having trouble.

In any case, if the thread wasn't closed, would you post a link to the thread so I can give it a look and see if anything else is wrong? Thanks! :)

Recently I was able to search for posts re: "Rescue Me", but now when I click on the Search button I get a message that reads..."Searching has been disabled" . Is it something I am doing or is there a problem with my pc?
