Why we love Emily 'Cause she loves Lorelai even if she’d hate to admit it. 'Cause if it wasn’t for her Rory wouldn’t have been able to go to Chilton. 'Cause even Lorelai said she’s good [in tricking people]. 'Cause she can be a vicious trollop. 'Cause it’s fun to guess what the new maid’s name will be this time. 'Cause she had a blast on the catwalk dancing to "Girls just wanna have fun." 'Cause she saved Lorelai's house from crumbling down. 'Cause she probably did think to move the moon. 'Cause she’s only being manipulative so that she can spend time with her daughter and granddaughter. 'Cause she made Richard apologize to Rory for the Dean-incident. 'Cause she made mashed banana on toast for Lorelai. 'Cause she hired a camera man and a sound engineer for Lorelai’s graduation. 'Cause she was so proud of her daughter that she cried on the graduation. 'Cause she thought frozen pizza was excellent. 'Cause she panicked when her mother-in-law was about to come. 'Cause of the way she shops. 'Cause not even Queen Elizabeth could out-royal her behavior. 'Cause she understands that it must be very exhausting to be Lorelai. | Question for the Trollops: Remember when Emily tricks Lorelai into the Spa weekend? Well I mentioned that recently to a friend and she replied she didn't think Emily tricked Lorelai into it - that she really didn't want to go and decided different when she heard Lorelai praising it. So I watched again and this could be true as well. I never blamed Emily for 'tricking' Lorelai into it - it's the only way she would go with her -but well maybe she really didn't. My biggest problem with this interpretation is, that I can't imagine Emily not wanting to go to a Spa in the first place. So what do you think - was it planned or unplanned? Until I heard the other interpretation I never question that she did trick her. ETA: More mail Jenny. __________________ | |||

| I saw that episode recently and I took it at face value that Emily really didn't want to go until Lorelai started talking it up. I laughed, because as Lorelai was talking, I could see that Emily was changing her mind about it. | Hmm - interesting. I really would've never had that thought on my own. Just watched the other E/L scenes as well - and Emily really talks like she's not too familiar with it (it really was dirt). You'd think a woman like her would've been to a Spa before. ETA: About her face changing - I can't really decide, if she's just then deciding to go with her or not. However in 617 when Lorelai mentions that Emily should've asked her for the way and that she could've come over - there I could immediately see Emily's mind working - and I couldn't believe that Lorelai didn't see it coming that her parents would stop by after that comment. __________________ | |||

| I also think Emily really didn't want to go, never saw it differently. She also wasn't patient enough to be pampered all around so I guess Spa really isn't her thing (except when her precious daughter accompanies her )ETA: One thing I wanted to ask, I recently watched 6.01 and somehow it looks like Emily and Richard have just one adjoined blanket instead of either having one, doesn't it? I know this is more common in the states than here (I would go crazy with that) but I'm not sure.
