Rory and Logan's Journey starts with her investigation into the Life and Death Brigade. She immediately reaches out to Logan for information on the exclusive club. Logan, while at first secretive, is instantly drawn to Rory, and invites her along to observe the festivities. The entire secret event ends with Logan convincing Rory to take a daring jump. And so she takes a leap of faith with him, instantly trusting him. Despite her fear, he pushes her to step outside her comfort zone and take risks. From that moment on, Logan and Rory develop an undeniable bond. At first, they start a no-strings attached relationship, until Rory realizes she is someone who needs to be in a committed relationship. She goes to Logan, fully ready to let him go because of it and he surprises her by agreeing to be her boyfriend. He doesn’t want to stop seeing her, and he is willing to make a commitment he has never made before. She becomes his first real girlfriend. His family however, does not approve of the Rory, as his mother infers she is not good enough to marry into the Huntzberger family and his father tells her that she is not cut out to fulfill her dream of being a journalist. This causes Rory to go through a downward spiral, cutting ties with her mom and dropping out of Yale. It culminates in a blowout fight with Logan, where they part ways. Once they part, Logan starts to pursue Rory again. He realizes that he loves her and doesn't want to let her go. They settle into a committed relationship again, but this time Rory is unsure because of Logan’s actions while they were apart. It takes her visiting an old flame to realize that Logan is the one she can’t be without. When Logan ends up in the hospital, she rushes to his side. They forgive and move forward together. Through trials of family and future paths, they stick together and become each other's support system. The insecurities of the earlier stages in the relationship were far gone. They were in it for the long haul. Logan decides when he gets an offer for a job in California that Rory is the person he wants to spend the rest of him life with. And although they never did get married, we hold hope that they eventually found each other in the end. In suspended animation.

The Meaning Behind Sophies is is a play off of Logan's "Master and Commander" comment to Rory for what she should call him in episode 5.03, Written in the Stars. Master and Commander is the first of Patrick O'Brian's novels about Jack Aubrey. Sophie is the square-rigged ship that Aubrey is Master and Commander of, and those who crew in her refer to themselves as Sophies. It is the ship where Jack Aubrey first makes his name.So, it is in this spirit that those who ship the Master and Commander and His Lady are known as: Sophies.

"There are deeper layers to Logan or she wouldn't be with him. Logan is a kid whose entire life has been preplanned for him. Rory grew up in a household where it was like, 'Anything you want, kid, you go for it.' He never had that. He grew up with all the money privilege, but he didn't grow up with any freedom. His freedoms are sort of self-imposed, 'I'm going to go act like an idiot, because I've never gotten a chance to explore who I am.' I think Rory sees something deeper in him. This is a very smart guy. He's done some things for Rory that on the surface seem kind of bad, but I think in the end, are very good. Because Rory was very subdued and needed to tap into a strength in herself that maybe she wasn't doing so much, because she has a very strong mom and strong friends. She never really had to do that.
