I liked Max and Jason, but I didn't feel invested. I wasn't sad when it didn't work out. Like you mentioned, I always knew it would be Lorelai with Luke. Chris was the only competition, and that didn't even really stand a chance to me. Chris messed up too badly too many times.

I think I was/am invested in Rory's for the same reasons. I was young when the show aired, it was easier to relate to Rory. Also LL was inevitable.

Aside from Jess' 4 episodes in S4, I had a harder time getting through that season, so I'm just glad that S5 picked back up for me. I was worried I wouldn't get through the series without Jess anymore.

I enjoyed the chemistry between Lorelai & Max, even though I knew it couldn't last, and didn't want it to last, because of LL. Jason was just way too weird for me and that entire season I was foaming at the mouth waiting for LL to realize their feelings for each other! I like Rory but since I'm closer to Lorelai/Lauren's age, she was always the character I related to the most. It makes sense that we'd gravitate more towards characters closer to our own age.

Season 5 was charming, funny & I enjoyed it the entire way through, even with the LL breakup. Actually that episode when they get back together was so rewarding to watch IMO, I loved it! :sigh:

The breakup was disappointing, but I liked seeing Lorelai mourn him so hard. I feel like we didn't see her do that with other relationships, so it was nice to actually see that she was indeed "all in".

I felt more invested to Rory cause we were closer in age.

I was actually a little more invested in Lorelai's storylines. Even though I am closer in age to Rory/Alexis. But I did root for and love Rory and Jess.

Exactly.

I'm also closer to Rory's age, but I was always more invested in Lorelai's storylines. I don't particularly care about Rory's boyfriends. I have my opinions, but I was never invested.

I can't really pick a favorite season of GG, because I think the first 5 seasons were so great and important in their own way, but season 5 is really the one I watched the most because of LL. Seeing them finally together was amazing. I loved everything about it, including the breakup. It allowed us to understand the extend of Lorelai's feelings for Luke and it was beautifully done.

As a LL shipper, I was obviously never invested in any of Lorelai's other relationships, but I was able to appreciate them (except Chris). They were especially great to see, because once LL were together, it reinforced how much better Luke was for her than the other ones.

I admit the first LL break up was well done

 Yup, exactly. That breakup was done well and the payoff was worth it! Season 6 is another story entirely...

S6 is different. Man what a disappointment. But I just posted about it in the S6 thread I bumped.

So very true.

Season 5 is by far my favorite seasons, it has my two favorite episodes: you jump I jump jack and wedding bell blues

Also the Diorama episode is comedic gold.

Talula78 08-25-2015 04:40 PM

^That's great! Season 5 is definitely a highlight of the series for me, mainly due to LL. :sigh:

Only season 7 is worse than season 5 for me. There were a few episodes I liked, but generally I found both seasons boring.

Lindsay 08-25-2015 09:29 PM

I liked S5 because of LL as well. I can understand not liking it if you didn't ship them or RL.

 That's fair. We all have different things about the show that interest us.
