I did not enjoy the flashbacks of DEAR, simply because Young Chris and Lorelai (not their fault) cannot match up to Now Chris and Lorelai in rapport and chops.

Hehe, it's amusing to see this funny thread in existence, but I'm glad. Season 3 is my least favorite to date, but it's still Gilmore, so I still love it.

A few episodes like "Eight O'Clock at the Oasis" become the representative Season 3 episode, which simply made me shudder. (Go away, Dwayne!) But, at least that episode gave us a nice Rory/Jess interaction at the end.

It's easier to recall specific moments (than entire episodes) from Season 3 that were enjoyable:

HLCD: "Ya-ya!"
Haunted Leg: "I think you might be the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen...outside of a really filthy magazine."
OGCATOD: "Butch" Danes.
TTDE: "We'll just make the noise ourselves." "Eeeee!!"
TBO: "Pack your chastity belt, Gilmore – you’re going to Harvard!"
HBB: "A toast to Lorelai on her 36th birthday." "35th." "Really?" "You’re doing the math?"
SGS: Lorelai singing: "Did you ever know that you're my hero?"

The season finale was well-done, imo. I also loved Rory's gripe-out sad message to Jess on the phone. And the ending was perfect, because I love watching things go full circle (when compared to TLFDAC).

Most importantly, we would not have had Kirk's t-shirts (in "A Tale of Poes and Fire") which are genius!!

There were definitely some "bla" moments in Season 3. But, there were also a lot of bright spots and it was, after all, part of the wonder that is GG. So, I can't help but love it

Ironically, one of the funniest lines ever, imo, delivered perfectly Lorelai-style, was from one of my least favorite episodes ever. A perfect punchline from mother to teasing daughter. Banter galore.

Quote:
LORELAI: [from inside the closet] The red skirt is not working.

RORY: Try the blue.

LORELAI: Blue let me down ten minutes ago, I think it’s conspiring with the red.

RORY: I wish you’d just wear the dress we picked out this morning.

LORELAI: No, you know as well as I do, the morning butt and evening butt are two completely different butts.

RORY: Well, whatever butt you’ve got tonight had better hurry because he’s gonna be here any minute.

LORELAI: Rats. Fine, okay, striped skirt, burgundy sweater, that’s it. [walks out of closet] What do you think? And remember, I’m wearing this no matter what because I cannot spend one more second deciding what to wear, so the answer has to be, ‘You look fantastic.’

RORY: You look fantastic.

LORELAI: [grabs a shirt from the bed] Pink and black.

RORY: With a flippy skirt.

LORELAI: Grab a necklace?

[Lorelai walks back into the closet to change]

LORELAI: Um, okay, here is my concern.

RORY: Voice it.

LORELAI: Well, you know, I only saw this guy once for like ten minutes and the lighting was only so-so and I hadn’t eaten anything, and, like, what if I’m remembering him a lot cuter than he was?

RORY: I’m sure you’re not.

LORELAI: Yeah, but what if I am? You know how these things are. You get bored, you need a diversion, so you superimpose a really cute guy’s face over a really scary looking guy.

RORY: Well, then you’ll just have to strike up a conversation with him and find out what kind of a man he is beneath the surface.

LORELAI: What? On the first date – what will he think of me?

RORY: Just order an extra dessert.

LORELAI: Okay, fine. Well?

RORY: I like the brown.

LORELAI: Come here a sec, you’ve got some dirt on your forehead. I’m sorry, it’s just the sign of the devil, my mistake.

RORY: You look beautiful.

Have you guys seen this Season three Trivia Quiz?.

I got a 65% on it - and I thought I knew the show well.

Season 3 was not one of my favorites but there were several standouts - Lazy Hazy, Haunted Leg, They Shoot Gilmores, Let the Games Begin, A Tale of Poes and Fire, Say Goodnight Gracie (for the Luke/Jess confrontation) and the finale.

The worst were probably the ones in the middle where Lorelai was supposed to be dating Alex, Rory was dealing with evil Francie, oh, and when Luke began dating Nicole...

ilovetheshins-Thanks for the bit of dialogue! I love that scene. It's hilarious! EOATO was actually one of my favorite Season 3 episodes. I never understood why everyone hated it so much.

There were definitley funny moments and of course the last scene with Rory/Jess, but perhaps the complete lack of purpose for the first 50 minutes of the episode annoyed me. Peyton, what happened to him? Nothing. New annoying neighbor Dwayne with scary house, what happened to him? Nothing. The fact these apparitions were used merely as plot devices (to get Lorelai to apologize to Emily, to get Jess into a wet shirt while being nice to Rory) are rather annoying, and when the characters that are useless are as annoying as Dwayne... yeah, makes for a difficult-to-tolerate episode of Gilmore Girls, unfortunately.

I didn't see it that way. I thought that the auction was funny and we got some great Gilmore interaction. The Dwight stuff gave Lorelai some terrific lines, IMHO. We'll just have to agree to disagree on this one I guess and that's quite alright

s3 finished a few weeks ago here, and I don't get why everyone said it was that awful. Sure, it doesn't compare to s1, but isn't that kinda expected? . My fav episodes would have to be Haunted Leg, Let the Games Begin, AToPaF, DEaR, Take the Deviled Eggs and Those are Strings, Pinnochio (I actually cried during Rory's speech .)

Love the stills!
