They would be the kind of couple who would have each other's backs. If the entire town was mad at Jess, Rory would stick by him and not be ashamed to hold his hand in the center of town. If Rory had a fight with Lorelai, Jess would be happy to sit and read with her, or just listen. Actually, he'd probably be willing to yell at Lorelai for her. (Notice that Dean never interferes with that relationship, it's like he'd rather have Lorelai like him than defend Rory.)

They would have the kind of closeness that goes beyond having to kiss each other every time they say goodbye. They can be close with just their shoulders touching while they walk, or even across a room. There's still that connection. There would be a comfort level with one another physically, not an awkwardness.

They would laugh a lot. They both have a great sense of humor, and they could just sit in her room, cracking up about something that happened in school or a story they read. They would have deep conversations, but they wouldn't always feel the need to talk.

Instead of always trying to compromise and please the other person, as she does with Dean, they'd both often want the same thing and understand without having to ask.
