The only thing that bother me about Lindsay is that he wanted Dean working so hard and giving college up. What 19(maybe 18)-year old girl expects to have a townhouse?

And yes, I SO want him back... he's my favorite character ever!
Agreed.

He was so desperate to let Rory know he still cared that he lost focus of his actual situation. Poor Lindsay. I feel for her because regardless of all her bitchiness, it seems like she loved Dean a whole lot and was excited to be married to him. She was glowing in all her scenes with him. Awww.

But Rory... Dean loved Rory, he always did. If Rory hadn't hurt him so much they would've been together or they would've broken up in a decent fashion without hurting anyone else.

I can't fully blame Dean because I love Rory and Dean together so much that when they got together again, while feeling bad for Lindsay, I was thrilled for them! They looked really happy with each other.

R/D were sweet. I'm not a shipper but I love their scenes in the beginning of season 1. It's so heartwarming to watch Rory blush and get all shy around him before they started dating. I love when he gives her the bracelet and then holds her hand and she looks down and blushes. So. Freaking. Sweet.

I know things got messed up after he married Lindsay but it was really great to see how she still viewed him as someone she could lean on. In "The Incredible Sinking Lorelais" in S4 she goes to him and cries on his shoulder because she feels her life is falling apart, and he is so supportive of her. You could tell by what she was saying to him, ("I was horrible to you and you're being so nice to me") that she really realized what she had given up. And of course he still cared about her so much.

I think S5 could have been a little bit more dramatic. I mean the whole Dean/Lindsay-thing. But I got the feeling they lost interesent in Dean, as soon as S5 started. They just wanted him to be gone, so someone else be with Rory. imho the whole break-up between Dean & Rory was rushed.
And you're right: I also couldn't blame all on him... I think I love him too much for that

I'm a GG newbie basically, but at some point Jared/Dean was going to be a regular in S5 but then he was only recurring, but by mid season he had said his last words.

Maybe jen knows more about this, but Dean's storyline was apparently halted/scrapped because Jared had a few new projects in the works, including Supernatural. I always wonder what Dean's storyline would've been like if it had naturally run his course.

But I'm happy Jared got out, made some movies, got the lead in a cool show. Dean was not being treated accordingly anymore anyway.

S1 is pretty sweet, I agree. I love the shyness, the blushing, the first kiss. Hehe. It's so cute. Looking back I laugh because they both look like babies.

Yes! That episode in S4 is one I love because Rory needed him and he didn't hesitate to comfort her. The matching "a shoulder to cry on" Luke/Lorelai - Dean/Rory scenes were awesome. It was such a throwback to S1. I always "miss" S1 when watching later seasons.

In real life always guard against doing what Rory did, letting "Dean" go. I always have that fear of seeing myself like Rory saw herself in S4 when Dean was supposed to be out of bounds for her. *shudders*

Yep. He had new projects and it was rushed. He came back for one more appearance after the break-up to show yet another parallel between himself and Luke, but that was it. They way they treated his exit was HORRENDOUS, though. It was like, "Hey I'm coming to pick you up for a date" and then "whoops I don't fit in here, bye."

And WHY did they make him seem like he was "lower" than everyone else in the end!?! Dean was a smart kid before, and suddenly in S5 it was like he couldn't possibly fit in with a "Gilmore" because the writers decided to magically drop his IQ and social status. I just don't buy it. I mean, they could have ended that relationship if they wanted to without degrading his character. Sometimes I feel like the characters on this show are written with multiple personalities, and we are just supposed to choose the one we think is "real." It's so ridiculous.

Yes, that was a beautiful representation of two guys who cared so much for these girls that they felt were out of their reach at the time. And yes, season 1 was so great... the dialogue and wit sparkled and were amazing, it was hopeful and there were so many great possibilities of where the show could go. Nobody had been ruined yet.

Ugh, I know real life love is a scary thing. Sometimes I watch the episodes and see similarities to my past relationships and then things I hope NEVER happen.

Replied.

That is one of the most upsetting things. Dean wasn't brilliant, but he wasn't a sack of rocks. He read, he watched tv, he played Sports, he wanted a higher education, he had a nice vocabulary and spoke very well. He was socially gracious and always friendly.

The fact that he was portrayed so badly at the end of his run still shocks me. There was no need to make a social example out of him. "Oh look, Rory's family is rich and Dean is not, this is never going to work out!"

He was working for a living, God forbid someone has to work for what they have. It's especially weird since Lorelai herself as a young mother had to work as a maid to support and better herself. She turned out fine, her intelligence didn't run away, etc.

Parting with Dean should've been portrayed as a natural progression of things, if anything. He was her first love, first everything, but they are both moving on. The end. Dean could've been more, "My life is a mess, I don't want to stop you from being comfortable and reaching your goals."

---

Those scenes is gorgeous! The girls were so lucky to have those two guys in their lives.

Hehe, Gilmore Girls has a lot of lessons to be learned on what NOT to do in your personal relationships. It's practically a manual.

Hey everyone! I made a fanvid that is about Rory Jess and Dean and is set to the song Misery Business. It's the outline for the video and I'm really glad with how it came out so give it a watch I think might like it even though it favors Rory and Jess more.

Nikki I think that should be a book title. I agree they should have had Dean/Rory talk about why their relationship was not working anymore to make it better than TPO. I think Dean should have gotten a better exit since he was there since S1.

Totally agree!!
The ending they gave Dean was unnecessary and mean! Jared didn't deserve an ending like that. He was with the show from the very beginning and through out all the crappy storylines they threw at him, he stayed loyal to the show, even after he left! He deserved a better ending then that.

But Jess, they gave him like 5 perfectly good endings that gave him and his relationship with Rory alot of closure but he is the one they kept bringing back! Thank God Milo is smart and put a stop to that!

First of all, I LOVE your Lauren/Matthew icon.

I couldn't agree more. <- There should be a smiley that conveys this with an exaggerated OMG, I KNOW! expression! I'd be using it all the time in this thread.

Jared hasn't said this, or I haven't heard, but he must've been disappointed and maybe even a little confused about what happened to Dean. It all started great, and while shows need tension and drama, they took it out on him, it would seem.

If I were him, I'd feel really sad about it. Plus, they didn't even bring him back to settle the score.

Watching the GG finale, with the same shot as the Pilot ended I was reminded of Dean and how he should've been there. At the end of the Pliot the girls are talking about Dean, Lorelai's "tell me about the guy" etc, etc. So it felt empty that he just faded from Stars Hollow. It felt wrong.

I know I'm late but I finally thought of a "I can't believe I let you go" song. "I drive myself crazy" by NSYNC. It fits Rory perfectly.
