I really do think this episode was one of the best Emily/Lorelai episodes of the entire series. It brought it home that even though they are VERY different, they're also similar in many ways. Brilliant way of showing that IMO.

I love that moment. And Rory gets a glimpse of her future.

Emily & Lorelai will always have a contentious relationship, question is whether they will put that aside to mourn their husband/father? I really want to see them come together and remember the good (and maybe some bad) times with him? I just really want to see some kind of bonding between them, even if it will more than likely be shortlived.

I think as of the series finale they've finally come to many understandings:

1. Lorelai offered to continue coming to Friday Night Dinners
2. Emily knows that Christopher/Lorelai don't belong together so that relationship can't be pushed in the future

I assume since then their bond has only grown.

I definitely think without Richard around, Emily will become closer to Lorelai? I was thinking of that the other night and it would be natural for her to want companionship after a significant loss like that.

I do think Emily will "cling" or see the girls more, or at least will want to.. Because besides the DAR who else does she have?

It's a shame we didn't get to meet Emily's own family ..
