I think Emily saying to Lorelai 'you look happy', is one of my favorite moments.

I know this is not revival related, but I'm currently watching 6x18 and the scene where Emily is playing cards with a random girl in the diner because she thinks it's April cracks me up!

I thought it was fantastic how she wanted to bond with April because she was family. Especially when for Emily the fact that Luke had a long lost daughter was probably against everything she believed in. But she pushed that aside for Lorelai's sake. She knew how important Luke was to her and how getting to know April would be important for them as a family.

I can't wait to rewatch their scenes at the revival! They really came a long way!

That was a great moment! And then Emily bought them a house, too. She really was on board for it all. So sad it didn't happen then.

It shows that Emily is happy that Lorelai is happy. I don't think we've seen much of that before.

I think she felt that way long before (for example buying a house Lorelai would like not she) but I don't think she said it so openly before - at least not sincerely.

Back to the therapy sessions, was someone else screaming in their heads when Emily brought up Lorelai leaving 31 years ago and Lorelai was like "Oh we talked about that x times"? I was like WHEN? Not to my knowledge they didn't - and I would've loved that conversation.

In terms of her leaving the house with Rory when she ran away?

I think that was said more to let us know how many times Lorelai/Emily have fought over the same things. Just like how in S1 Emily brought up that a child needs a father and a mother, when you get pregnant you get married. I think that was one of those type of conversations that had to have come up between the two constantly but we never saw it on screen. Just my thought/take on it.

^^ Yeah, that's the idea I got. During 6x14 (one of the best FND ever!) after everyone fought over the most recent events, Emily and Lorelai got back to fighting over her getting pregnant and leaving when she was 16, which had nothing to do with the subject at hand So it was an implication that it was a constant fighting topic.

Although I really would've love to have seen them talk about it in depth.

I'm sad that the therapy wasn't fully used to its advantage (in terms of storytelling).

But that's what I meant. Bringing it up in a fight (and that they did more than once) isn't talking about it. I'm not sure when or if Lorelai truly understood what it meant for Emily - maybe on that trip to Mia. I'm not saying that she should've known Emily's feelings - obviously she wasn't showing them very openly, but still I would've loved a real talk. The plane scene was also just a start and then Lorelai went away.

At the same time that was part of their relationship, y'know? They didn't talk about this. They fought but they never got to the bottom of any of the underlying issues.
