It's been mentioned probably dozens of times before, but when it catches me by surprise I'm like

how did I miss THAT?

Lorelai, as pretty, and as strong, and as funny and loveable as she is, simply is (or has turned into) an emotionally baggaged wreck this season.

When people she loves immensly break her heart and tear it into twenty thousand pieces, she will

1. Forgive them with their 'I'm Sorry' even though she still has inhibitions and fears despite it (forgiving Rory in 5.02, 6.12)

2. Completely NOT TALK about it or admit it to them, or anyone else available to listen, and repress every darn feeling she has until she's reached breaking point and cracks from something else.

-Meet exhibit Sad!Faced Mute Lorelai from 6.12-6.19 who cracks after drinking her depression away (after Chris makes several comments that made me throw things at my tv...not because of Chris, but because of ASP who wrote them). She neither talks to Sookie, nor Emily, nor Rory, nor Chris, nor Luke. Though she's NOT OK, and its obvious to certain people she isn't (Rory), her mouth is shut and she won't talk about her subconscious thoughts and fears.
-Meet exhibit Sad!Faced, yet Strong!Nosed Lorelai from 6.01-6.08, who cracks after having a really bad night's sleep worrying over her dog being really sick (even though she doesn't exactly admit to her subconcious issues anyway). She throws "Tough Love" on Rory for running off to Grandmas, not speaking to her, dropping out of Yale. She refuses to admit that she's really NOT OK with not talking with her daughter for several months (6.01..."I'm totally okay with it"). It's obvious to certain people (Luke) she isn't OK, but her mouth is shut and she's not talking about it.

Hopefully that means there is an end in sight to this madness. And btw, did anyone see this Lorelai in previous seasons? Cuz I feel like it's completely new...

Remember in the episode where she is trying to pick paint colors and look said somethign about her havnig a problem and she says she hates problems and avoids/ignores them.

nice post Steph.It always breaks my heart to see her like this

I don't think it was this 'extreme' before.
She always avoided to talk about some things(for example the Max break-up) but in the end she always could talk to Rory or Sookie.I wish she would do this now.
Maybe this time it's because she really avoids the fact that she isn't ok.
I wish all of this would finally break out of her(preferably in front of Luke).

Who said the Lorelai love is gone? Not me! Lorelai is my absolute favourite on GG. I feel a lot closer to her, despite being Rory's age... lol. I share many personality traits with Lorelai, whilst I only share two things with Rory: the age and the fact that I have a very good relationship with my mom... lol.

I love her quirks, her snappy comebacks, the way she's able to stay strong for so many people as well as how voulnerable she can be when she lets herself be. There are just many things I love about her and my love for Lorelai will remain for a long time coming!
