It’s a cool autumn afternoon. The scent of coffee wafts through the blue house with a jeep sitting out front. In one room, a few bridesmaids hurry to finish their hair and makeup, while in another room, Lorelai Gilmore takes her time buttoning her daughter’s wedding dress. She wants to make this moment last a little longer.

Across town, in a room above a diner, Luke Danes grips his nephew in a hug. He says how happy he is for the couple, though his nephew doesn’t need reminding. After shaking his stepfather’s hand, Jess Mariano takes his mother by the arm, and Luke, TJ, Liz, and he make their way to the location of the ceremony. As they walk, townspeople wave and gush over him, giving him both warm congratulations and warnings against breaking the heart of their beloved neighbor. But of course the townspeople don’t need assurance. They’ve all seen the couple together, a little older and a little wiser than before, though just as lost and found in love.

They couldn’t not invite everyone in town, at least to the ceremony. These people would’ve held their collective grudge against the couple for years. Jess doesn’t mind though, at least not as much as he once would have. A lot has changed.
Rory sees the clock and jumps up, realizing how late it is, but stops when she sees her mom’s face. Tears welling in her own eyes, she wraps her arms around Lorelai. Trying not to lose it, Lorelai breaks their hug and asks Rory if she’s ready. In moments, everyone rushes out the door, mother and daughter trailing behind.

Eventually, the groomsmen walk the bridesmaids down the aisle. Jess walks his mother to her seat, and takes his place in front of everyone. As he stands in wait, he feels like his knees will buckle under him before he even gets to see her, but then he sees her, and she is so beautiful.

Lorelai gives Rory away. Luke takes his place as officiate and leads the ceremony. Once they stand before each other, their gazes don’t stray. While Luke speaks to the crowd, Jess whispers to Rory that she is so beautiful. Rory and Jess read the vows they wrote themselves, managing to make just about everyone in attendance tear up, including each other, as much as they try not to in front of all these people. When Luke announces them as husband and wife, Rory and Jess linger in their kiss, happier in this moment than any before it.
