Yes! That's exactly what I think some do. They see things how they want to see them to suit their narrative and block out certain canon events from the show.

Yeah, she's realising how much he was there for Rory, while also realising she's still in love with him. Although unable to admit it. Her feelings came out on the letter.

I just watched the 5.22 and 6.01 where Lorelai and Luke get engaged. I think it's really telling that Lorelai proposed to Luke (twice!) and that's the marriage that was meant to happen, the person she was supposed to be with because she made the decision to do it. Where as the Max proposal came after an argument and the Chris proposals either came after an argument (the stupid s1 proposal) or he pushed her into a rushed marriage that she didn't want.

Basically, the one that was supposed to happen was Loreali making the decision because it was what she wanted. The other two were decided by the men she was never supposed to be with, but she went along with them, deep down knowing they were both mistakes. The Chris marriage especially.

I know people took issue with Lorelai proposing to Luke but I loved her being the one to tell Luke in the revival that they get married. I felt it honored their original proposal but this time Lorelai was proposing from a good place.

I liked it too! And for the same reason. She was in that marriage to Chris that she didn't want to be in. She was pushed into it by Chris and she went with it, because it's what he wanted and she was trying to please him, and disregarding her own feelings and what she wanted. Where as with Luke, she was the one to ask because this time, it's what she wanted and she wasn't agreeing to something just to please the other person.

I love her proposing both times too. the first one you can see in her face when she realizes she wants to marry him.

I wish we could have seen Luke have his moment too.

Yes! I really wanted to see Luke have his moment and give her the ring. I wanted to see her reaction on first seeing it, since Luke always knew what jewellery to pick for her.
