How Many Kropogs to Cape Cod? Discussion

Wanting to make a good impression on Logan's powerful father, Mitchum Huntzberger, Rory learns everything she can about him before starting work as an intern at one of his newspapers. When Lorelai learns that Emily and Richard have invited Logan to Friday night dinner, she ends her boycott of family gatherings in order to get to know Logan better. During the evening, Emily and Richard fawn over Logan, but Lorelai sees a side of him that causes her to worry about Rory's involvement with the Huntzberger family. Meanwhile, Lorelai gets an interesting job offer, and Luke tries to talk Taylor into closing the Stars Hollow museum.

Okay, so...

Rory: There were parts when she seemed wayyy too excited during that internship.

Logan: He doesn't seem to have a great relationship with his father, but most of us expected that. Now, the sewing box incident?

Rory/Logan: I enjoyed their first scene, the talk on the phone during her internship, and the chat before going inside for FND. But again: why oh why did Logan have to take the sewing box? Gah! Basically, there were some good moments between them and others that made me go "Nuh uh" (Ex: FND).

Lorelai: I felt so bad for her during some scenes. You could see her feeling out of place during the dinner. The last one between her and E/R were interesting with the "He's perfect" and "No, he's not." Still no surprise that she doesn't like him and I don't blame her.

I cannot wait to see if she is going to take up that business offer. You know she wants to, but on the other hand...there's Luke. I can see him being worried, but encouraging her to go because of what Dean said.

Luke/Lorelai: Um, can we see a kiss? Or even a hug? Sheesh. If I only watched the show for them, I'd go crazy.

Emily/Richard: Go to Cape Cod and don't come back.

hey, germ881
I completely agree! Rory and Logan had some cute scenes but the sewing box incident was incredibly stupid. I loved that Emily noticed it right away and how Lorelai was like, uh I found it, and gave him that look. I clapped at that moment. I really felt for Lorelai tonight, especially at the dinner, it was a sad episode. All this strain and pain between the characters is interesting, making for good drama, but it also is really sad. I have hated Emily for her pig-headedness about Luke, but at the same time I love her character and I love she and Lorelai's interactions. I would like to see them reconcile before this is all over, I have a feeling there will be more pain before that happens though.

LL kind of made me sad tonight too. I mean I loved their scenes but I feel like we are not getting enough of them. Tonight they weren't the main story and I get that, they're not the only characters, I just wish the scenes that they do have could have a slight bit more depth, more communication, things are implied but not shown or spoken, and that can be good angsty (which I'm all about) story telling . . . BUT. I'm just insecure, I guess, I need a little more; because I am "all in," they are the reason I watch!

Those are just some of my thoughts.

1) Heh freaky opening to the show. Think I remember those vacuum machines from Star Wars.

2) Paris sings better than Rory. Rory shouldnt be one to criticize. Of course we're speaking in relative terms.

3) Luke wants that house. But does Lorelai? Speak to her. After all for all her complaining she loves her house. And is fiercely independent enough that she probably doesnt want to move into anything she doesn't own herself. At least not without discussing it first.

4) Logan must've LOVED Rory droning on about his father. Almost wanted to scream through my tv set "Shut up Rory!" Logan seems quite patient. But if she keeps it up, no one can be THAT patient.

5) Rory actually went to class even if she didnt pay attention. Philosophy? I remember that as being that one class you thought would be really cool and interesting and turned out to be dreadful. Particularly once you hit Hume.

6) "I have a life." - Rory.

7) "Look like a Neutragena ad." Heh. Hasn't Alexis done print work for them?

8) That is her first picture ID? Doesnt she like attend Yale? In that really terrible welcome to Yale episode wasn't Rory taking strict notes where they drummed into her how important the PICTURE ID card Yale gave her is? Perhaps she isn't clever enough to be a reporter?

9) I hate to say this but Rory, act like a professional and not like you are a little ditz who got the job because you were sleeping with the boss's son. Her job seemed amazingly simple. Shutup, keepup, and try to learn while seeing a pro do his thing. It's an opportunity many of us would kill for. In fact the rest of the staff will probably hate you once they find out who you are bedding.

Yeah you're excited. But stop crawling up the walls and act a little clueful. So far I'm getting the impression that Mitch isn't being mean in the previews for next week but telling her the sad cold reality.

And after 5 seasons it's time to learn how to run.

10) Was a nice little moment seeing Richard say he was proud of Lorelai. Course once Lorelai's asanine coments get published for all the world to see he'll be wearing a paper bag over his head.

11) Lorelai's chilly reception by her mom was well deserved. Even if Lorelai's reason for being angry at her mom was quite understandable. To say her timing was suspect and transparent is an understatement

12) Rory drinks club soda in front of the grandparents. Best you don't let them know Rory.

13) Logan's prank seemed harmless except for the fact he was prepared to idlely sit by there while someone not only gets fired. But fired in such a way that they may get a bad reference. I can see why Marty loved working for him and his friends.

Logan to his credit knew how to handle the grandparents. Though they certainly didn't need much work given how much they kissed up to him.

14) And I can now see how laughable Rory's "But I'm a Gilmore" comment was. I see a minor family seriously trying to kiss up to a far wealthier and far more important family. That Rory and Logan felt uncomfortable in the process is a given. In fact the grandparents can do nothing but scare Logan... more than even if they acted like they hated him.

Lorelai not only saw right through Logan but right through the grandparents who seemed unwilling to see any of Logan's warts.

15) The offer is an interesting opportunity for Lorelai and a test for Luke and Lorelai. Dean's warning is probably forshadowing. Lorelai now that she's achieved her dream of owning an inn might be ready to explore new things. Is Luke secure enough and willing to give her the space she needs to pursue them? Or is he attached to his way of life and where he is that Lorelai is going to have to make a choice?

Prediction: Luke springs the house on Lorelai as a surprise. And Lorelai does what she did with Max and runs (the job being the plot device) to return for the season premiere next year for a probable reconciliation.

16) "You'd look amazing topless." Hey ASP. If you asked I'm sure they'd be willing to air one or two special eps of GG on HBO.

Surely you remember the stunt Lorelai pulled with the Wedding planner the night before Emily and Richard's vowel renewal. That Wedding planner was surely given a bad reference along with her severance. How was this any different?

Yeah, totally felt bad for Lorelai at dinner. I could feel how out of place she felt. And Emily noticing the sewing box was missing right away? Priceless! Logan stealing the sewing box? Not so good.

Felt bad for Rory on her first day at the internship, too, I could just feel how she was feeling.

What is Emily's problem? LOL, before all she wanted was Lorelai to come back to dinner, Lorelai comes back and she tries even harder to alienate her? Hmm, smart move.

Emily and Richard really made me laugh at times, though!

And now we've finally got this job offer thing figured out (we were trying to figure it out like crazy on the spoiler board lol) I dunno, it's scaring me. Heh. Can't wait for next week. I've been waiting for 5.21 for a loooong while.

Great acting tonight. Emily could be the poster child for the b-word.
Very uncomfortable to watch Lorelai.
I thought Luke said last week that they were in a relationship. When are we going to see that?
You just knew Deans words went through his mind as he was talking about the offer.
This one sure set up for the end of the season. But this is one I don't think I will watch again.

I was shocked at the way Emily was shafting Loreali at the dinner. It was so blatant and not even subtle.

Rory was way to excited over her internship ... and with good reason. But I was glad to see her become more comfortable/aware of the news office.

I was so mad that Sookie suggested that Lorelai leave Star's Hollow/Luke and go to Paris. How could she do that?!

The previews ... Lorelai might be pregnant, with Luke's kid!

Other than the fact that it's two different situations with completely different circumstances (other than someone ultimately getting chewed out by Emily) with different outcomes? Oh I see, you're saying they're the same because both started out pranks and turned into something that doesn't reflect that well on either character. Lorelai's rearrangement was in poor taste, and disappointing that they'd write that in for comedic effect when someone losing their job isn't so ha-ha at all. Lorelai didn't know someone would get fired which is not an excuse for not speaking up when learning of the planner's fate, but I can't imagine Emily being cool if she had confessed and then running to re-hire the planner. Logan's trinket prank, while seemingly harmless is still stealing. THEFT. Is not acceptable. (Not to mention at your girlfriend's grandparent's house in front of her mother. Way to be discreet.) Reasoning aside, he didn't speak up either. He could've tried to lighten the blow on the maid with some of his supposed quick wit and charm, eh? Also, it would've reflected nicely on his character if he'd asked to speak with Lorelai privately and explained himself instead of taking off for an "early day." Maybe next time they meet ... all dodgy behavior aside. Not likely, though.

Ah, the sewing box. I was spoiled and I speculated about how it would go down, but I kept hearing "well le'ts wait to see how's it played before we make any conclusions." Ok, so I saw it play out and this is what I saw.

First of all, for Logan who has done this across the eastern seaboard, way to be discreet, man. It's like he secretly wanted to get caught, they were practically in the same room still.

Second, Rory asked him not to, but he did it anyway. The reasoning? It's a Life and Death Brigade thing, as if it's mandatory he does it. Um, ok. But when your girlfriend, the granddaughter of these people asks you not to, when her mother is watching, just plain stupid man.

When the maid was grilled I actually expected Logan to say something or at least look a little guilty or somehow remorseful. I guess having someone's job taken away from them is of no importance to him, he could not care less. I'm mad that Rory didn't say something. I'm glad Lorelai stepped up and said she 'found' it.

When the wedding planner thing happened, when Lorelai found out the wedding planner was fired, at least she looked a bit taken aback and remorseful. She had a bit of remorse written on her face. Nothing from Logan.

I think the most ironic thing about this instance was Logan saying that he takes it from the richest homes as if it's something amusing. As if he's mocking them, when he's a product of that very society, and he revels in inappropriate use of money all the time!

I didn't like Logan before, but this is the only instance I need now. He has no redeeming qualities in my mind. Selfish, spoiled, entitled, and absolutely ridiculous, immature behavior. And Rory acts like she's 12 around him.

I liked the beginning with the vaccums and them on the phone. Nicely done.

I know!

I was so mad when she was just telling Lorelai to go to Paris ... that there was nothing here for her.

What was she thinking?!

I agree with you. I'm not trying to defend Logan whatsoever and I think Lorelai was right to be disappointed in him. I kind of half-wish she had exposed him right then and there while she had evidence instead of after the fact because Emily and Richard certainly weren't buying it at that point. All I meant to do was point out an instance in which Lorelai also caused one of Emily's employees to be fired and given a bad reference.

I liked this weeks episode a lot better then I did last weeks. Poor Lorelai at the dinner! Emily was being a bitca. Rory was adorable during the internship. I thought the water coolor/camera phone part was so cute.
