She should of just sucked it up and finished it out. What was the big freakin deal? It's as if she said GG wasn't good enough for her anymore and she had bigger and better things to do and didn't have time to waste it on this petty little CW show anymore *rolls eyes*
The big freaking deal was first the suits intervened during season 4 and she had to bring LL together sooner than she wanted to. That probably bugged her till today because it was not her plan and people loved it. The ratings went sky high after it and it was not her original plan which lead to it.
Season 6 earned nothing but bad critics from the beginning because first the Lorelai/Rory rift was not handled well enough or handled at all. Fans didn't like it. Critics didn't like it. The actors didn't like it and Lauren openly criticized Amy and I think for the first time.
Second her oh so brilliant April storyline which no one excepted or got behind because it was too soapy and just plain dumb and bad writing. More fans and critics criticized her for the crap.
Third she didn't get what she asked the WB for. 2 years or I'm out. Well she was out and to top season 6 and go out on a big boom she threw Partings in our, the suits, the critics and the actors' faces.

Logged on to check out the new first post--wow! That's news, all right.

I'm excited about the idea of a movie. Yes, it could be a little cheesy and not as good GG at its best, but this is ASP--it would probably be a regular day in SH, not a wedding/Christmas/etc like most reunion movies try to do. (And if I'm wrong and everyone was back for an LL wedding? Fabulous!) I'd love to have the characters back for a few hours and see where their stories went, see LL getting their middle. I hope it'll happen. The actors on this show always seemed pretty loyal to ASP, so I wouldn't be surprised if they come back to do it just to finish the show her way.

If people do start to campaign, I'm in. And the good news about it happening a few years from now is that we'll be used to a GG-less world and may care less than we do now. For now thinking about the movie and seeing LLs middle makes me all kinds of happy. If I find out in 2 years that it's not going to happen, I'll be disappointed for a few minutes and then move on.

If you really want to see them, they're on DVD according to Amazon.

I have finally come to terms with it. So a reunion, fine. But wait about 5 years!
The original post does say a year or two. The longer they wait, the harder it might be to get people back together just because of life and other projects.

I am sorry but you stick it out to the end. You fullfill your contract obligations and then you move on if your not happy.
Isn't that what she did? She didn't walk out in the middle of her contract. Her contract was up. She wasn't happy, she moved on.

The Save GG thread has been topped and has campaign info/updates.

Kelly Bishop is in this week's People Magazine in the tribute dedicated to Dirty Dancing.

Quote:
THE MOM KELLY BISHOP

THEN Originally cast to play Vivian (the married older woman who hits on Swayze's Johnny Castle), Bishop, 63, arrived onset only to discover they wanted her to play Mary, the mom. "Jerry Orbach whispered in my ear, 'Take it, it's better,'" recalls Bishop. "So I did it. He took me under his wing." When she wasn't learning the merengue, "We played Scrabble," she says. "Scrabble was a rough game with Jerry--he knew all the two-letter words."

NOW For the past seven years Bishop has played Emily, the grandmother on the WB's Gilmore Girls. "I was just hooked into the show," she says. Since the series has been canceled, "I've got to get back onstage," says Bishop, who lives in New Jersey with her husband, TV personality Lee Leonard, and was in the original 1975 Broadway cast of A Chorus Line. "I love theater--it's my home."

Well it's a TV Movie so I think they will watch if it's a good story, I guess the next question is will the CW still be around to air it LOL

BTW - I doubt 5 million people will pay to see it on the big screen.

...and thanks for the Kelly Bishop stuff Nadine.

Haha...Craig...it's funny you mention the big screen...I was just reading on a VM comm on LJ that Ausiello asked Rob Thomas about his ending for VM...he was thinking about a movie to wrap things up, but didn't think anyone would ever want to go to the theatre to see his little watched show.

Ausiello said that he shouldn't say somehting like that...his example was Firefly.

I'd pay a million dollars to see it But I see what you all mean, I would like it to go to theaters just cause I'd like to see GG on the big screen and it may get more fans plus the 5+million we already have but at the same time, it's risky! Not just with bringing in viewers but getting everyone they need back to the show. Even though the show has about 5 million viewers right now, there is n o guarantee they will all be there in 1-2 years. Some people grow up and move on, others are casual viewers who don't and never did feel the need to pay money to see GG.

Ultimate Gilmore Girls Collectible Rolls To Auction

Lorelai Gilmore’s Jeep Offered for Sale on e-bay

BURBANK, CA - May 23, 2007 (PRN): As Gilmore Girls fans around the globe mourn the passing of the highly popular CW television dramady that served as their Tuesday night obsession for the past seven-years, the ultimate piece of memorabilia from the show is being offered for sale on e-bay. Lorelai Gilmore’s beloved Jeep hit the on-line auction block on May 23 with a minimum bid of $35,000. The auction will run for ten days and will end on Saturday June 2.

The offering of the 2000 Jeep Wrangler that was customized for the show is being made by David Laurell, a former mayor of the City of Burbank, CA who has also worked as a journalist covering the pop culture collectibles market for the past two decades. Laurell, who owns the Jeep with a silent partner, said there is simply no doubting the fact that this is the ultimate piece of Gilmore Girls memorabilia. “Lorelai’s Jeep is an iconic piece of television history associated with a show that will live on for time eternal as a milestone in American pop culture,” said Laurell. “For Gilmore fans this vehicle is one of the most recognizable in television history. It ranks right at the top along with the Batmobile and the General Lee from The Dukes of Hazard. Every television show or film has that one item that stands alone as being immediately recognizable from the production. When it comes to Gilmore Girls that one thing is Lorelai’s Jeep.”

Laurell further pointed out that while there were numerous Batmobiles and hundreds of General Lees manufactured, there were only two Jeeps ever used during Gilmore Girls seven-year run. “The Jeep we are making available was used from the first episode right on through till the final episode,” said Laurell.

Along with the chance to own Lorelai’s Jeep, the e-bay offering also includes a Certificate of Authenticity, a photo album with photos of the Jeep in the Stars Hallow town square, at Lorelai’s house, and in other locations on the Warner Bros. lot, a tour of Warner Bros. Studios where Gilmore Girls was filmed, and lunch in the studio’s dining room where many of the show’s cast members ate on a regular basis.

Gilmore Girls, which presented its final episode on May 15, 2007, chronicled the lives of Lorelai Gilmore, a single mother played by Lauren Graham and her daughter, Rory, played by Alexis Bledel. Set in Stars Hollow, a fictional Connecticut town with more than its share of quirky characters, the series explored family, relationships, current affairs, and socio-economic class issues in fast-paced dialogue liberally peppered with pop culture references and a healthy dose of opinionated commentary. The show’s wit and warmth won it a following of critics and viewers that bridged the generational and gender divide. The show is currently being aired in syndication on the ABC Family Network. Click

Thanks for the KB news, Nadine,
and for the Jeep info, Cappu.

I hope they keep the other Jeep available for the movie or whatever extra GG filming we may get.

If I were Lauren, I would definitely buy that Jeep as a souvenir .....

Too bad that unlike the shared enthusiasm amongst the VM fans about their possible movie, us GG fans have been so hurt in the past years, that we can't even unite about what we want.
I still feel that most would either like or at least not mind getting a TV movie or extra episodes. If you feel that way, do write all those involved to let them know we care and would watch. It'll make a difference.

The only thing I didn't like about Serenity was how they killed of some key cast members meaning it would be hard to have another movie of series.

I do agree VM on the big screen is worse that GG, these are shows better to watch at home.
