Exclusive: Setback for AS-P's Jezebel James? Well, this isn't the most encouraging sign. The episode order for Fox's The Return of Jezebel James, Amy Sherman-Palladino's eagerly-awaited Gilmore Girls follow-up, has been trimmed from 13 to just seven. The half-hour comedy, which is essentially a female Odd Couple, stars Parker Posey and Lauren Ambrose as estranged sisters who forge an unusual partnership. Although no reason was given for the downgrade, a Fox spokesperson acknowledged in a statement that, "For several years, midseason has been a busy time at FOX as we prepare to launch new series and make room for returning favorites like 24 and American Idol. We have always planned to launch The Return of Jezebel James in midseason, and seven episodes are all we need to allow us to program the series through the current broadcast season. We are big fans of Amy Sherman-Palladino, Dan Palladino and the extremely talented cast and are looking forward to airing the show." The news comes on the same day that it was announced that AS-P would make her feature directorial debut with The Late Bloomer's Revolution, starring Sarah Jessica Parker. Coincidence? I think not. Despite my best efforts, sources tell me that Gossip producers feel the character of Serena's grandmother already bears too much of a resemblance to Emily Gilmore; as a result, they'll likely go with another actress. Damn reverse typecasting!

Ratings Breakdown: ABC danced its way to Monday victory, with a first-place finish in both total viewers and adults 18-49. CBS was second in both categories, followed by NBC and Fox tied for the No. three and four spots, and the CW a distant fifth. A 90-minute edition of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars was the most-watched show of the evening, with a hefty 19.19 million viewers and a 4.6 rating/11 share among adults 18-49 from 8-9:30 p.m. Start packing, Mark Cuban! That led into the premiere of sitcom Samantha Who?, which opened first in total viewers (14.92 million) and second behind NBC’s Heroes among adults 18-49 (4.5/10) at 9:30 p.m. Comparably, retention for Samantha Who? out of the last half-hour of Dancing With the Stars (Viewers: 20.07 million; A18-49: 4.9/11 at 9 p.m.) was 74 percent in total viewers and 92 percent among adults 18-49. I found it funny but I have to agree with those who say it might not have the legs to last, I mean what happens does she learn to be a better person, that might get old quick. I waited 7 years for Lorelai to become a better person
