Actually, I remember a spoiler saying that halfway through season 7, the writers sat down and rewatched a bunch of old episodes because they couldn't figure out why people didn't like the show any more. (Hmmm I wonder why). Then I guess they got a clue but it was too late to fix what had already happened. I'm not sure what the source is, I just remember reading it a couple different places.

I was also wondering, Lauren said at one point she didn't see the final, but liked how the show ended. Later she changed her opinion, I wonder if that was after viewing the final?
I don't remember her changing her opinion, but I also have no clue if she's seen it yet. All I remember is her saying that "what happened with Luke in the finale is what should have happened" or something like that, she thought the LL ending made sense because that's where the show started, and also that if they had known it was the finale it would have been different creatively. I wonder what she thinks of the Lorelai/Emily closure (or lack thereof) in the finale. She always said she loved that relationship and IMO it didn't get enough attention.

I remember that, too.

Samantha Who? got picked up for a full season as last night's ratings show continued growth.

Quote:
Previous shows had a tough time keeping crowds after "Dancing," but that wasn't the case with "Samantha" (15.4 million, 4.9/11), according to preliminary estimates released Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research. "Samantha" not only retained an impressive amount of the "Dancing" audience but also improved 12% in viewership and 8% in adults 18-49 week to week. "Dancing" (21.6 million, 5.3/14) was about even in viewership but down slightly in adults 18-49. - Hollywood Reporter

In a move that should surprise absolutely no one, sources confirm that ABC has picked up Samantha Who? for a full season. In its first three airings, the Christina Applegate-fronted memory-loss satire has retained a good chunk of its Dancing with the Stars lead-in, easily ranking as the most-watched new comedy of the fall. What's more, it's actually good! - TVGuide

Anita thanks for the Samantha Who? stuff, I'm hoping to catch ep 2-3 soon. I know a local TV network has the rights to it but it's not likely to air here until next year.

As for Lauren, maybe "changing" her mind is a bit strong but I remember later interviews after the final that her views were modified and maybe the show didn't have the closure it deserved after 7 season.

We still haven't heard one word from Alexis thou or did I miss it?

That's what I was talking about.

Yeah - at least we know what Kelly thinks of it. But you're right it's strange that Lauren never commented that.

From memory I think Kelly was not pleased with the ending as a whole for the show, just like Scott and several others. Lauren has said similar a month or so after the final but I can't remember hearing anything from Alexis.

Does anyone know what she is doing, I heard Sin City 2 was coming up soon?

Actually I remember reading that Alexis said she liked how LL ended "hopefully" or something like that because she said she thought Lorelai had already explored all the "possibilities" with Chris. Does anyone remember that interview? It was a really short one. She was also okay with Rory's ending... other than that, I don't think she said much.

Maybe it was posted on a Alexis or Rory thread and not the main news one?

Alexis seems to be at peace with the show ending from what I've read or heard.

Maybe like the S8 debarkle the movie might come down to what Alexis wants or doesn't want?

Question, would you be less likely to watch the movie if the Rory roll was less or non existing and it focused on Lorelai, Luke and the town?

She called it disrespectful to the fans (and other things).

If instead of Rory Emily would come more into focus I wouldn't complain - but then we have to get the movie first...

Hey maybe L&L are married ('cause by the time we get one I'm sure that would have happened.) Rory is on assignment in the Middle East and L&L are about to have their first baby twins of course and it's about the birth. Emily gets involved along with the town, maybe it's winter and they get stuck at home or in the diner with half the town watching the birth.

maybe we need to write a 90min script for Amy!

Once again, Jane Espenson. She was a guest blogger on Jenny Crusie's blog yesterday and answered a couple of GG questions (the whole piece is worth a read):

Quote:
What was it like to work for Gilmore Girls?

It was fun and incredibly educational with respect to story structure. They structured stories in a way I’d never seen before: much, much looser with respect to the traditional rules of drama. What they’d lose in, say, on-screen conflict, they’d gain in verisimilitude — episodes unfolded in a very naturalistic fashion. I learned a huge amount.

(Again about Gilmore Girls) How do you pull off that rapid-fire dialogue?

Write a lot of it and make the actors talk fast. Their scripts were literally almost twice as long as a Firefly, Buffy or Battlestar script. The actors had to be letter-perfect and they had to rocket through it.
