For old time's sake I decided to stay up for AA and there were two GG-related questions:

Quote:
Question: Have you heard anything about Edward Herrmann's character on Grey's Anatomy?— Siobhan
Ausiello: I hear Grandpa Gilmore's playing
Spoiler:
the world's oldest intern.

Question: I feel like you're hiding some Gilmore Girls movie news from us. Release the scooplets!— Stephanie
Ausiello: Curses, foiled again! It's true: I have a little scoopbit I've been sitting on and the secret's been eating up my insides! Melissa McCarthy (aka Sookie) told me way back during the July press tour that she's open to the idea of a Gilmore Girls reunion movie, although she conceded, "I'm always a little sketchy about the whole reunion-movie thing. But Amy's such a good writer that she could write something and I'll be like, "I'll be damned, it's really good!" McCarthy acknowledged that the series finale felt a smidge rushed. "I don't think they ended it how they would've ended it [had they been given more time]. There was a lot of talk about an eighth season. But I think the writers did a great job considering it was so last-minute. I thought it was really good that it ended with [Lorelai and Rory] reconnecting. I think that's what people wanted. I would've hated to see the show go out on a sad note." Interesting factoid: Had the show returned for an eighth season, Sookie would've been MIA — save for a possible guest appearance or two. Unlike the rest of the cast, most of whom were onboard for Season 8, McCarthy had already committed to Samantha Who? on ABC. I assumed, as I think everyone else did, that Samantha was in "second position" behind Gilmore, but that was not the case.

Thanks for that.

can't wait to see Ed on GA

and BIG news about Sookie not being there for S8 (if it happened) but as Melissa said it was rushed, these are real people who want to work so she looked for a new job. I wonder if NO Sookie played a part in an way in no S8? Guess we'll never know.

Hmm - would've been a bit obvious if they'd really gone with the Emily/inn sl. I mean if Sookie never would've been around...

I'd love a "Emily help out at the Inn" SL it would last about 1 eps before someone was in a body bag!

Hey maybe Caesar would start working at the DFI or better still LUKE!

I agree the end was rushed, didn't Lauren even say something like that or if they knew it was the last the season might have been a little different, less on the Chris stuff?

So your in the "The end of S6 was a dream" club, so S7 Lorelai wakes up in bed alone or better still with Luke by her side, just a bad dream blamed on the lack of Luke's coffee from not having any for days!

Thanks for bringing AA over, Katie.

I actually think the part I bolded from Melissa's quote, should be "Lorelai and Luke", that she's referring to LL - because she's talking about "reconnecting" and otherwise it would've ended "on a sad note" ... doesn't sound like it's about the mother/daughter ending to me. Rory and Lorelai weren't apart in season 7, so no need to reconnect ....

And I like that she also admitted the show would've ended differently, that there were many plans for season eight, probably the most significant development expected was in the LL relationship.

And about Melissa not signed for season eight, with Sookie having her third kid, it could've been natural for her to take more time off, keeping her best friend status alive, via phone calls (where we only see and possibly hear Lorelai talking). I thought she was written as a great friend this last season, so it would've been a bit sad to have much less of her on screen, but more Emily/Lorelai would've totally made up for that, at least for me.

Agreed. That would have been a good way to make her be seen less on the show. And phone calls would have been a great way to let the viewers and Lorelai know that she was still around. And I actually would have liked to have seen more Emily/Lorelai scenes, so I'm with you on what you said about that. I too think it could have made up for Sookie not being there.

It would have been sad to make a s8 without Sookie. I love her character. But she's definitely not one of the main characters, and the show could go on without her, although it would be sad that we would see her less. However, I agree that they could make it up with more Emily and Lorelai scenes, and some phone conversations between Lorelai and Sookie. It was totally doable.

And I agree that what she said makes more sense if it's in regards to LL, since Lorelai and Rory never disconnected in season 7 and them, supposedly, connecting in the end, didn't prevent the show from leaving on a sad note, since they were already connected and on good terms. Does that make sense? But maybe she did say Lorelai and Rory, for some reason ... ..

ETA: I'm so rude .. Thanks for bringing that over, Katie! And for staying up late waiting for AA. we all appreciate

I agree, when I first read it, I thought she meant [Lorelai and Luke] too... I don't really remember Lorelai and Rory "reconnecting" in any way... But I guess she could be referring to the ending scene in the diner like old times... who knows.

It seems to me like all the actors are paid to say were glad it ended with Lorelai/Rory even though I don't get it. Friends ended with the 6 friends but they all were in commited relationships or starting a new lifes. It could have ended Lorelai/Rory with Rory/Logan engaged or at least still together

L/L ended together, and Rory started a new life. It's pretty much the same in that aspect IMO.

Yeesh, the girls reconnected 18 months ago. Why is Melissa still talking about November 2006?
