IMO the ended will never be how Amy planned, she did originally plan it to end with Rory graduating, that's done. So any future TV Movie would have to be a whole new thing with a different ending. Unless she pulls a Roseanne and has the final season as a dream. Starting the movie with Lorelai waking up alone in a sweat at the CS, the morning after giving Luke the ultimatum, hey maybe it can work

my friend asked me yesterday why they (when they got to know its been canceled) not rounded up to discuss how they could tie up the loose ends in a 2 hours special. She said the network would have had the money to pay the girls for a 2 hours finale that they could shoot when ever they wanted to like in fall before all of them start their new projects.

and suddenly i also thought it could have been possible. they could have done that for the loyal fans.

She said that LL even on their own ended kinda sad, cuz neither of them had the trip with their daughter. The audience may have assumed they would do then the trip together but most of them got a half hearted reconciliation and a daughters who had something else to do, leaving their parents alone with their plans.

those open ends suck big time. ASP better keeps her word and does the movie!

most production is set well in advance and making the final a 2 hour while possible would cause problems for the studio (extra time needed) and the network, rescheduling other shows.

As I said before, even an extra 2 minutes of Luke & Lorelai talking after the kiss would have been better than how they ended it, it Chris can have Lorelai for 2 minutes why not Luke

Thanks for the thread and all of you who keep contributing with GG related news. I wasn't around for two weeks and now i'm fully informed again

I think the incredibly pathetic and lame "reconciliation" between L/L was just because DR had no clue how to write it - so he simply left everything unsaid. For some reason, they found a way for C/L to talk out their issues for almost an entire episode (Farewell my pet or whatever it was), yet DR couldn't manage anything more than her "messed up" sentence and the being ready to marry discussion outside the diner. As a fan since day one of this show, the whole mess was an insult.

Since we have never heard one word from Rosenthal since the show ended, maybe he is just glad to be done with it since he endured a year of intense criticism from both fans and critics (well deserved criticism) - I mean, not one word from him at all - unless I missed it.

My guess is he is glad to move onto another job - he couldn't have trashed the show anymore than he did even if that was precisely what he was trying to do. He probably thinks he did a good job with what he had and got sick of all the blame. I've never wathced any shows he was working on prior to GG and don't plan on watching MIT because I never liked it in the first place.

DSR is moving on to trash Men in Tree this Fall!

I think the last time we heard from him was to do with the leak about the Paris ep, and then NOTHING! I still think it was a deliberate act to leak the news to soften the blow, even though most of us who were spoilt picked it well before the official news came down. I even asked MA who didn't want to say anything. DSR screwed up and worse still he knew the fans would hate it and didn't care.

I've heard some spoilers from MiT and it sounds like the handy work of DSR!

I think, that exactly is the point why we had this creepy ending. He had no clue, he wasn't capable of his job. That - and CW not having an interest in continuing the show
